Default my love for sen. obama continues

i am seriously in love with this man's brain. really. barack obama is someone i respect more than any other politician or candidate to grace the face of the possible presidency. howard dean is a close second, if he were only a better politican.

do you guys think american can get over the stigma of "first black presidential candidate" to put him in office? i truly hope so.
have any of you heard him speak? I first fell in love with barack after the 04 elections when he was elected senator, and CNN showed his speech while i was on the edge of my seat watching the red vs. blue states. It takes a lot in a speech to move me, to make me follow your name in the news, but he did it in mere minutes. if you have no idea who he is, google him. and try to find the transcript to that speech. it's worth it!

    Love it!

I LOVE Barack Obama! He is so motivating, compassionate. OMG He would make the perfect president. I too hope that American's would be able to get of the "first back presidential candidate" stigma and just let him do his dam job. The thing that I like most about him is that he's for ALL people, not just Dems and Republicans. He has my vote most definately!!

I agree he is very inspiring and compassionate and most of all seems very genuine. I have such admiration for the guy. He was on oprah last week (or the week before) it was a great show.... very thought-provoking. YOu should get his new book.

As for there ever being a black US president. Nope not in this lifetime.

It's not about him being black; Colin Powell could have run and easily won six years ago if he so chose. It's about Obama's relative lack of experience--he's just not been doing this very long. The man is long on charisma and short on political prowess.

By way of comparison, he has as much experience as GWB did when he ran for president, but less actual time building a political base. And it's no secret that most people found GWB's lack of experience to be a recurring problem with regard to policy-making.

Obama isn't a bad guy, he's just ill-equipped at this point to run for President and I think he knows it. Moreover, he's a Senator; historically, Senators have a tough time getting elected to the White House compared to governors, which hold executive positions.

As to whether I'd vote for him, that largely depends on who is running against him.

Obama/Clinton in 2008. They will win, mark my words. Obama is wise and compassionate and the democrats love him and the Republicans respect him. Hillary Clinton is tough, experianced, and intelligent. Democrats love her and Republicans fear her. America is ready. After all, we are at a point as low as we can go, so this is a light at the end of the tunnel.

ooooh, scorpio, clinton/obama... nice. that sounds appealing, but a woman and a black man as a pair will have a tough time... esp with the midwest. but that's totally like a dream come true for me. and he doesn't have enough experience tis true, but after reading that article i posted above, i wanted to believe he did.

Not really! This country is not ready for a black man to run it yet! I also think Obama should not be president right now! I think he should be governor first! Once Obama make himself known a little while longer, and serves some time as governor. I believe he will have a better chance for president. I do not think he should settle for vice president. Also he is a smart man, he knows already how he should be doing things!

You might totally disagree with that, but Gallup, Zogby and Marist polling have consistently shown that Powell captured at least 24% of prospective GOP voters polled about candidates (placing him consistently ahead of all contenders in GOP primaries), and that's since 1998. Perhaps the great irony is that Powell was always considered quite moderate (pro-abortion, pro-affirmative racism, pro-business, pro-defense) compared to his potential running opposition on both sides of the aisle.

But Powell will never run. I can't say I blame him, and after all, the man did dedicate his entire life to public service, and did so honorably. I respect that.

Obama/Clinton in 2008. They will win, mark my words.
Not a chance. What Obama has in charisma, he lacks in leadership and political savvy, but he's young and has time. And HRC has already been Vice President for eight years--she doesn't want to do that again. She's a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. She's well-connected, well-financed, and clearly very experienced in the game of politics. I don't put it past her to run and possibly win, but she's a very polarizing figure even now. She's competent and capable, but I'm not sure she's electable.

I don't see any viable candidates on the DNC side...then again, the GOP doesn't have more than Giuliani right now either, and he can't win because Southern Christians won't elect a liberal Yankee Republican in the primaries, which is incredibly myopic, but true. : sigh :

OOOHHH yes obama/clinton..... mmmm that makes my nipples hard in the most non-sexual way possible. wow that was contradictory. haha. Growing up in Upstate NY, I LOVE clinton. Because I lived in Chi-town and will move back there soon, of COURSE I love my sen. from Ill., too!!

put 'em together and whaddaya got? bibbity-bobbity- no just kidding- they would be wonderful together, balance each other out, and appeal to a huge majority of voters- NOT just minority groups. I am all for it.

ya know, just in case Stewart/Colbert fails. haha I want that t-shirt so badly.

    Ditto to everything he said.
I remember at the 2000 Democratic Party convention Harold Ford Jr. gave a speech and he was hailed as the party's Great Black Hope. Six years later he lost a Senate race and Barack Obama is the media darling.
I think Hillary Clinton wants the Presidency. Her and her hubby have alot of influence in the party. Obama might get the Veep spot but if he goes for the top job the Clintonistas will attempt to eat him alive.
I live in Illinois, Obama's left wing enough to keep Chicago happy and he says nice things about health care and ethanol to keep downstate happy. To expand on something Casual Observer noted, what is Obama known for policy wise?
McCain is the hawk and campaign finance reformer of the Senate, Schumer and Leahy are there to combat Bush on judges, Feinstein is the stalwart abortion and gun control liberal, Ted Kennedy is the lion of the left, Lugar is the farm policy and foreign policy guy. Obama on the other hand is the smiling orator who should run for President because he's a smiling orator. In a way, he's famous for being famous.
As an Illinois voter I don't doubt he's capable, but he's going to be overexposed by the media unless he starts writing some substantial pieces of legislation.
