^ I KNEW this was gonna happen.

And this is what our society is reduced to. So materialistic.
Guy #1: I'd totally hit that.
Guy #2: Dude, I'd hit that so hard whoever could pull me out would become the King of England.
Ridiculous. Whenever something new hits the shelves, people get even more stupid.

I read some stores only got 20 PS3s. Way to go Sony.
It's always like that when they release a new gaming system. It increases demand and whips everyone into a frenzy. Watch... right before Xmas they'll release a metric ton of them to stores and watch the money roll in.Originally Posted by PleasureVictim

Well i'd assume losing that small profit margin isn't a big deal really. It's also probably why the release so few right away... less to have auctioned away for higher than retail.
Look at it this way, they release say 100 systems. Those 100, some are kept, more are most likely resold, let's say 90 of them. Ok so those 90 the people who bought them make crazy profit at Sony's expense but... the frenzy and hype it creates leads to the sale of bazillions of them.
God I hope this makes sense, the kids are at thier dad's for the 1st time in a month and i'm more than slightly buzzed.
*grins lopsidedly*

They're being sold for 1000 here and not until, you got it, late December.

I'd considered being one of those early adopters, but decided nah...I'll wait maybe a year or so, til the price comes down. Besides, to take advantage of all the fun stuff I'd have to get a new TV...and then I'd have to get a home theatre...y'all can see where this is headed![]()
Besides, the only video games I'd likely buy are the sports games...and I can play them on my laptop anyways.

My brother was going to get one and called a bunch of stores. He said every store he called, even ones way out in the middle of nowhere, told him they had lines outside the door that exceeded the supply of PS3's they had.
I love it when CT makes the news.

My friend just got his...along with a broken toe (he was trampled)![]()

i've got a friend who manages a game crazy. i think she's been taking sedatives for a week now. poor thing.

someone told me about someone else who bought one on ebay for $1500 and plans to resell. i think that's a waste. already, i don't see her making back her investment and then more (which apparently she wants to make $2500 on it, selling it for a grand total of 4gs on ebay). still, im an xbox girl.
Love it!

Hey, thanks for the tip, DC^![]()
In a similiar vein, my neighbor went to 3 stores for the damn Elmo toy, unsuccessfully for his friend's son. His friend paid then $90.00 on Ebay for it, & the kid didn't even look at it for 5 miniutes![]()

I don't understand the people who want the first gen consoles so bad. Sony has never been known for durability. I remember having to put the PS and PS2 on their sides so they'd run, and then having to buy the little versions.
Listening to NPR, I heard that until the factories can learn how to efficiently make this technology at a cheaper price, Sony will continue to release only a few, thus ensuring that they can maximize profits by learning how to cut costs.

Oh god, the bugs. Don't even get me started on the XBox 360. I cringe to think what Sony will yield.
What release games have been sold for the PS3?
It could actually be a good investment. They obviously did it with the intent to broadcast on the internet.....and geez, there are ads all over the page for PS3 gamesOriginally Posted by Krazyjane
Think of how many fanboys saw this and sent the link to their friends.
Sony CAN produce enough game consoles to meet demand in the USA. They choose not to as a marketing stragety. It boosts the stock value, it intimidates the compitition, and sends consumers into a buying frenzy. Look for another *small* shipment (probably about the same size as this one) closer to christmas. Then in early 2007 there will be plenty of games available to anyone who wants one.
The designer handbag industry has been using this marketing ploy for years and years. Ladies still pay thousands and thousands of dollars to get a bag to carry thier crap in. Why? I have no idea.
