    Default Rant Maryland Housing

I'm trying to move to Maryland because my boyfriend has been there, but we've decided to do the long distance thing again (we will see each other every weekend,) for a year, then once I paid off all my bills and saved some money and started a new job. I have no problem with not dancing in Maryland because it seems like all the clubs there are very unlike Philly clubs.

But what really gets me is...the insane cost of apartments and housing in Maryland. If you want to live in a normal area the cost for a one bedroom is about 1200+ for a place that's not a complete sh*t hole. My boyfriend grew up in Annapolis, so we checked out the Annapolis area. Hell no! Besides why pay so much money for a place that has ungodly traffic and all the cheaper apartments are filled with section 8 housing now. Saturday there was a shooting at the Annapolis Mall! So that's out of the question. Now we are going to start looking in the Columbia area. I refuse to live to close to Baltimore, the murder/heroin/vd capital of the world.

It seems like the choices are 1) Overrpopulated, over-priced towns 2) Scary towns like Baltimore 3) Out in the middle of nowhere like the Eastern Shore. I like to visit the Eastern Shore (my boyfriend's dad has a shore house where we stay every weekend,) but it takes a super long time to get anywhere.

So do any Marylanders have suggestions about a safe area that isn't going to cost 1500 a month to rent? I hope I didn't offend anyone that lived in Maryland. I'm aggrivated. I know Filthadelphia isn't much better.

Both coasts are being highly populated these days. There has been a trend of people moving out of middle america.

Also take into account the illegal immigration problem - you are competing with 13,000,000 to 20,000,000 people who are not even suppose to be here - especially when it comes to rentals. That is a lot of apartments and homes.

Maryland is near D.C. - one could say it is a suburb of D.C. D.C. had literally billions and billions of dollars thrown at it by corporations wanting certain laws to be made. This means the lawyers, law makers, marketers, lobbiests, etc. all have fat pockets full of cash and so the land lords can rent high.

Hehe! You think $1200 is a lot for a one brdroom, you should see the prices in DC!For $1200 you cannot even get a studio in the city.A one bedroom goes for around $1800-2500,and you'll be lucky if you get parking with that.

It's ridiculous....the rent prices are 3 times higher than 10 years or less ago.
