    Default need to diet/lose weight

    I want to start dancing again very soon.. however i have not danced in 2 years now. I am wanting to lose a few pounds before i start again, any tips would be great.. Ive already started to eat smaller portions more regular so i burn off what i eat.. I would be grateful for any advice/tips..

    pick a diet. Any diet that works on reducing calories. Do it. Work out with cardio 3-4x/week and strength training 2-3x per week.

    here is the easiest thing... it's not a diet but it will work if you do it... each a portion(fist size or bigger) of protein with every meal. Over time you will see a difference without having to starve yourself or following the fads... I did it and lost 30 lbs over 6 months (warning: it took a month for me to see anything).

    Cardio. Cardio. Cardio. I've tried EVERYTHING and when I step up the cardiio, the extra lbs drop off. All the dieting and stuff helps, but I swear by an hour long sweat 5 days a week.

    Yes and cardio means you can eat more - of good stuff - so you won't have to dramatically reduce what you eat. I eat way more now than I used to before I started working out, and I have lots a lot of weight and keep it off easily. I don't even really remember what it likes to be starving, haha.

    For breakfast I would usually do like turkey bacon or eggs, or if I felt real creative I would cook something on the stove like sausage (the leaner the better)... I really like protein bars as part of my breakfast.
    For lunch I would just eat typical stuff, like chicken, ham, turkey, cottage cheese, etc
    For dinner it was kinda whatever I could find... I eat out a lot, so I stayed guilt free by making sure that whatever I ordered I would have at least one serving of meat (fist size) and eat that first.
    The thing I liked about this is that I didn't have to really stay away from anything, I just had to make sure to add that protein... NO MATTER WHAT I WAS EATING... now that is the key, even if you have a snack, you have to put a portion of protein with it.
    Before I knew it, I wasn't as hungry, but I didn't feel like I was starving myself, or lacking energy, or craving carbs (as with the low carb diets).
    The hardest part for me was finding a protein for each meal... its harder than you think but if you do it... it will be way worth it!

    For me I noticed the biggest difference in my body when I elimintated sugar from my diet. I have been using Stevia (a natural sweetner) for coffee and tea and I stay away from sweets all together. Right now, the only sugar I get is from fruit. I also pay attention to wheat and only eat it if it is whole grain. I love pasta so I switched to brown rice pasta and only use turkey in meat sauces. I also eat lots of oatmeal and veggies and have replaced a lot of milk products with soy alternatives. All of this has helped me achieve the body I have, with less cravings and effort in the gym.

    i chopped out wheat and dairy from my diet for allergy reasons, and noticed that it is an accidental weight manager as well. and i have been naughty and not exercising. (ssh)

    (just make sure you take calcium to make up for the loss of dairy)

    don't know if you have alcohol, but cutting that out is another way to burn the paunch off.

    i definitely believe in lots of cardio if you don't want to alter your diet significantly.

    I just got the south beach diet book, sister in law had it recomended to her by her doctor & advised it would be ok for my husband whos diabetic. i havnt really read it yet but the recipies and menuslook reasonable. i kept getting diet books that had foods i couldnt find or even pronounce...and all these complicated cooking instructions. one example from the book is..for breakfast..a veggie scrambled egg, 1/2 grapefruit, 1 slice of toast with cheese and veggie juice. i can handle that!
