Default When I was a Newbie to SW....

Ok, courtesy of insomnia, I was bored and just looked through all the threads I ever started, because I was curious to see how I was last November when I joined.

HOLY SHIT, I cringed at a couple of the posts! Such a moron I was.

Anyone else ever do this when you were bored? Kinda like reading old diaries....

I have read some of my older posts and mostly laughed. Sometimes when newbs revive old threads it makes for some good reminiscing

I haven't been on SW that long...less than a year, actually...so my posts have changed, but haven't changed that much. The biggest things you might notice about my posts, is the transition that I've been trying to make from doormat to dreamgirl. Over the year, I have gone from complaining about things that people did that were unjustified to me, to angrily venting about how much injustifications angered me, to analysing why people were constantly wronging me, to boasting proudly about how I finally stood up for myself to the people who were wronging me. I kinda call my strive towards assertiveness as an ongoing "work in progress."

I think the biggest changes that occured with my personality and general life outlook, actually occured BEFORE I discovered SW. There was a HUGE difference in my overall demeanor and character when I first started dancing(Jan 05), to about a year into dancing(Jan 06)...much more drastic than the changes that I've gone through from January 06 until now. The ways I acted around customers(when I first started, I sat with customers too long and I was also too nice to the jerks). The way I hustled. My perception of what "good money" was(when you're accustomed to making $7-8/hr, a $100 day looks great! now, a $100 day is a big bummer). My lifestyle. I've also become a LOT less humble and I consider this a GOOD thing.

I laugh at all of Bridgette's posts too. Maybe because I cut and paste them and then translate them into Hindu Sanskrit, written backwards.

I get a jolly good chuckle out of that.

At least I know I'm making good progress.

    I'm not such a doormat.
    More articulate.

    I revel in my idiocy!

Is that a gloomy low self esteem or extreme pride in my heritage/background?

Ha, yea I did that just the other day. I was reading a post I wrote back in 2003. I read and said aloud, "now that was the dumbest shit I've ever read" lol..ahhh I'm getting older now, and wiser I see.

Puting on my Urkel voice: "Did I post that?"

Yes, I've said some things on here, and all over the internet for that matter I'd like to take back. That's why we use anonymous handles.

But speaking of "when I was new here", can you believe that as of next Sunday, yours truly will have been here four f**king years? Oh, the stuff thats changed since way back when.

And I'm surprised at how many of the other old timers are still here with me. That's the mark of a good online community I guess.

You are so right about changing. I think it's been almost a year since I posted that heart wrenching "He cancelled my wedding" thread.

Since then, I've left him for almost a month, cancelled any hopes for a wedding at all, had a couple of affairs and came back when I was damn good and ready and I see him for what he really is...just a man.

Maybe it's being on SW, that's giving us so much power and wisom!
