    Default tinnitus

My ears ring. It's been going on for years but seems to be getting louder. Doctors say there's no cure and you just have to learn to live with it. I've seen sites for homeopathic remedies but I don't know if they really work. Has anyone had any success in getting rid of tinnitus?

I have had tinnitus since 1992, mostly from my time in the USAF working next to F16s. There's no cure and no treatment.

What I find works for me is to have white noise when I sleep--a fan, or my computer noise.

Blah......that's what I thought. I'm used to it, I guess, but sometimes I just get paranoid that there's some kind of tumor growing in my head.

I'm sure it's from all those years of loud music in the club, though a friend has it from when she was at a meditation retreat and walked by the gong when they rang it for breakfast, so I guess you never know.

Oh boy. I'm so sorry to hear you two are afflicted with this. It's really, really terrible. My dad has this. I'll never forget my Nana telling me a story about a time when she went over to his house to check on him and he had been up all night because the ringing in his ears wouldn't allow him to sleep. She found somewhere he had scrawled "help me" in the dust on the kitchen table where he sat all night.

My dad tried wearing a contraption in his ear that looked like a hearing aid but made a low buzzing sounds and was supposed to cancel out the ringing. He said it never worked so well. The only thing he ever found helpful for when it got really, really bad: my mother would lay down next to him and circle her finger around in his ear very softly and gently and it would dull the ringing.

this is a good time to remind y'all not to blast yourselves sideways with your iPod earbuds. they have admitted they're too loud for sustained use - so please don't be tempted to crank them up...

it's a one-way ticket to permanent hearing loss or tinnitus. bleh on both counts.

i'm super paranoid about something happening to my ears now...

I hve tried Homeopathy for other things and it works great! However each remedy is different for the individual so theres no guarentee if youre just buying something in a shop. If its cheap though try it, they certainly wont do any harm!

Dear God, that's horrible! Your poor Dad. I pray it never gets as bad as that.

I've heard about the ipod warnings too. How I wish I could go back through time and not work in a loud nightclub. I was just talking to another dancer who worked as long as I did and now has hearing loss. I don't notice the ringing all the time, when I do I tell myself it's angels singing. It sounds whacked but you do what you've gotta do.
