okay so take some time out to search through the site, most likley the newbie board because majority of these questions are answered. Be you self and look like yourself feel comfortable in you and you will be fine but i do recomend the search button and just browsing the site
take care

Good luck in your choice. However, I can predict right now that every girl here will say "Search the forum" because you are asking 3 or 4 different questions at once, all of which have been discussed in detail for years in dozens of threads. Narrow it down to one topic at a time, type it in the search window, and proceed. Happy dancing!![]()

first, take a deep breath and RELAAAAAAAAAAAAX!
1. Find out what clubs are in your area. ( and the Club Chat board on this site are great places to start.) For a large city like Chicago, chances are there is already a lot of info about particular clubs in your area in the Club Chat forum.
Many clubs have websites--have a look at these. They definitely won't give you the whole picture as far as what the club is like, but you'll have a rough idea.
Call the clubs you're interested in and ask when they hold auditions. Or show up in person--this is what I prefer to do, since it gives me the chance to interact with some of the people that work/manage there, and to see the club itself--thereby helping me to get a better picture of what the club and people are like. However, some prefer calling instead, as that way you won't waste your time in transit by showing up at clubs hoping that a manager will be there and available to talk to you--chances are, they might not. If not, ask around and find out who you should talk to about auditions and when they usually work/when they'll be in next.
If you're particularly nervous, pick a club that you really don't want to work at--or a club that you simply don't care about one way or the other--one that you don't have your heart set on working at. This is your "practice" auditionIf it goes well--awesome! If not, write it off as a learning experience, and you'll walk away with the knowledge and experience to know what to do differently in the future. Then when you go to audition for clubs that you actively WANT to work at, you've gotten most of the kinks and nervousness out of your system already.
As for music...just ask! Sometimes a club will have the DJ pick out a set for your audition, sometimes you'll get to choose songs from the club's collection, sometimes you'll be able to use your own music. It wouldn't hurt to make a mix CD of your favorite dance tunes (as for uptempo vs. slow...i definitely vote for uptempo/faster songs.) Practice dancing to them--also practice mentally reminding yourself to relax and *slow down*, until it becomes second nature. This will help you avoid the common newbie problem of dancing way too fast and looking silly.
Pick out tunes in a few different genres (rock, pop, top 40, dance, techno, etc.) because different clubs will have different musical vibes (and rules as to what sorts of music are allowed).
Also, invest in a pair of standard platform-and-stiletto shoes (and practice dancing/walking in them). Amateurish shoes are a dead giveaway that you...well...might not know what you're doingIf you don't want to spend a lot of money, is a good resource--especially their clearance sections.
That's all I can think to tell you at the moment...i'm suddenly incredibly thirsty and there's a can of diet vanilla pepsi in the fridge calling my name.Anything specific I forgot?
Wow picaresque,, that was a very informative reply! You covered so much and in such good detail.
thanks everyone for your help i guess i'll just take a deep breath and get right on it!

And some advice from the male of the species.
It's very important to remember, that although we're your source of income (although though you probably primarily view us as such) we do come to the club to be entertained. Try to see your customers a little through their eyes as well.
We like to think that you see us as a person, not just $20, and the simple courtesies of life (like remembering our name, flirting a little and saying thank you after the dance) may change us from being a casual customer to someome who'll sepnd more money on you - and maybe even come back to see you.
Also learn not to take rejection personally - I might like redheads, but you're a blonde, or I might like small breasts, but you've got large ones. Male tastes vary, and you will not meet every customers definition of an ideal girl.
Not every customer you approach will want a dance and your sales skills will be important in maximising your sucess rate. Look on every time you are turned down not as a rejection of you personally, but as a failure of your sales skills.
Finally, some of us customers are assh*les - no getting round it. As well as looking up information on costumes, music, routines, etc, look up infomation on how to deal with guys who want to touch, proposition you for extras (sexual acts) or want to see you outside the club (OTC).
Good luck.
Phil.

chicago clubs suck imo... your best bet would probably be polekatz or diamonds... polekatz is quite a drive away from the city though..diamonds also i suppose... i would definitly go to either of those if i wanted to drive that far, but i dont, so ill stick to my lame ass club =(
