Drove past LeBare. They have a big FOR SALE sign out front and I saw a couple tumble weeds scoot across the parking lot.

Wasn't there some licensing trouble? It's been around forever in Houston.

When I lived in Austin that was a male strip club, I remember because the young girls from an office I worked in were the worst PL/RIL types, lol...
I'm willing to bet the economic factors would be different, and a bit tougher, for running a successful male strip club. But maybe it turned into a regular stripclub after I left?

Everything that has been in that building has been doomed, even though the location is perfect. I was there when it was Steamboat, didn't make it to Lebare, and the theatre is just TOO BIG! It was likely way too large to accomodate the demand for male strippers. That place is setup in a cavernous manner that makes it appear like its never full....
They were having legal troubles from some of the neighborhood groups.
All in all, I think there is a market for male stripclub in Austin. Houston and SA clubs do well. But it would have been more suitable in a smaller, more intimate venue. Sometimes they have the Chippendales dancers do a show on 6th st or @ Dallas Nightclub, about once a month. That will probably work best compared to paying the real estate costs of a full-service joint....
