    Default Chunky Vs. Spike

Ok, when i first started, i got some shoes like these...more of a chunky heel because i was scared of spike heels.

Now i bought some like these(except in white)

and im scared to wear them haha! i walekd around in them around my apartment and all.

but i persoanlly think the more spike heels look more feminine and make your legs look longer rather than the chunkier heels(even though those are easier to walk in)

for those of you who started in chunky, how long did it take to get used to the spikes? do you prefer more spiker heels over chunky???

    thanks for the replies

p.s - sorry for the HUGE first picture, and the TINY 2nd picture. i just put the two first pictures i found on the net. but u get what im saying, right?

guys find the spike (stiletto) way sexier. You'll get used to it in no time, jsut like you did when you first put on the platform chunkies.

the chunky heel are like training wheels to me

They won't stretch as much, seeing as it's different matierial, but yes, they'll stretch a bit. It's natural with new shoes.

i started out on the spike but given im so short ive always worn heels everywhere so im used to any type of heel.
they do make the legs look a much nicer shape.

I cant turn on my heels worth a damn in chunky heels....

Dude... did I mention we have a girl at my club who likes to do pole tricks and flips in shoes that I can only describe as cinder blocks on her feet. I cant even find em on google to show ya.

And she damn near takes off heads!

I started out in the spike ones and only prefer those, I think they're sexier and make your legs look longer and more feminine. I do admit that the chunky ones are easier to walk in because I tried them on, however, I've always sacrificed comfort for style!!! (especially when it comes to ALL shoes!! )

I have been dancing for over a year, and have never gotten used to spikes. I'm just not coordinated enough.

I have no idea how you girls do it in the chunky ones, lol! They feel like Frankenstein shoes to me...so heavy.

When I first started dancing we had to wear those "fuck me pumps"...5 to 6 inches of heel with NO platform in the front and pointy closed toes. Ouch!

Thank God platforms and open toes came into style.

I have never worn chunky heels. But I can say that it really only took me a few days to get used to walking and dancing around in the 6" spikes, so I'm sure you'll have no problem, since you are already used to the height of them and the angle of your foot. To me, thats the big thing. The heel isn't too important for balance because most of your weight is on the balls of your feet anyway! good Luck

I'm a pole diva who primarily wears boots and it's harder to find quality boots in a spike heel. Chunky boots are better constructed. I've had two spike-heel boots bust on me. I wish these boots were constructed as good as my chunky cha cha boots.

Anyhoo, I love the spike heels, shoe or boot. I've received a lot more compliments on my stilletos it just looks sexier IMO. The chunky shoes look like granny shoes, but the boots are not as bad, but I now only buy the spike heels.

I have the chunky heels, and they SUCK! It's hard to move. My street stilletos have a high arch and hurt after a few hours. I just ordered a pair of super cute spikes for dancing
Love like you've never been hurt, work like you don't need the money, and dance like nobody is watching.

I've had my Ellie "Jungle" boots for eons and they are amazing. If your local store has em, I highly recommed them!

I didnt find em but I can explain em better now.

Take the size and shape of these (with less of an arch):

And instead of that big hollow heel/platform piece, its a solid piece of wood that looks like the platform on these:

And they're at least 6.5 inchers... maybe 7.

Put the shoes under a blow dryer and get em nice and hot and then stretch em out by hand. It will make them so much more comfy.

Ive never danced in chunk heels except for when I first few days of dancing. I wore this hideous clear prom shoes that were like barely 4" high. I graduated to spiked clear heels less than 1 week later.

If in doubt about your stability just go slow. If you can test for slipperiness on stage before your first set of the day.

i adore chunky-heeled shoes i'm obviously in the minority, but I think they're adorable! and they actually look good on my feet. and they're comfy as hell.

BUT, i caved in and bought a new pair of spikes last week. I still have my chunky shoes, though--they were my very first pair of stripper shoes! awwww! i can't throw them away!

I was thrust into spikes on a whim...an impulse buy in my club's store. white stiletto lace-up boots! I bought them before work one day, and then it was like "well, here they are! now I have to wear them, millimeter-wide heel and all!" So i just put them on, took a few steps around the dressing room and headed out.

Yeah, I'm guilty of choosing comfort over looks, especially when it's a really long shift. I'll break out the sexy spikes for busier nights/shorter shifts, when the subsequent toe numbness is actually worth it! But I'm mostly a chunky girl...

Spikes. But there are spikes and then there are SPIKES.

There's these, with a bit less point at the bottom:

And then there's these, with a totally pointy bottom that's MUCH less stable for walking and dancing:

I like the ones with less of a point. They look good but are easier to walk in. They're what most strippers wear anyway.

It took me a full year to finally graduate to platform spikes. I had NEVER worn heels before dancing.

I dont think I've worn the chunky ones since high school! But the spikes definately feel sexier. I just love the way heels add instant glamour to any outfit.
