Default Free makeup consultations in the mall..

Does anybody ever get those free makeup consultations at JCpenny at Dillards and all those stores where they have a make up counter? Is anybody ever happy or unhappy with the results? Do u end up buying the makeup they use?
I seriously need help with my makeup. Not club makeup, but daytime makeup. I dont know anything about under eye circle makeup..is that concealer,foundation,powder..or what? See?I dunno! So was wondering if anybody does this before I take a trip to the mall.

I think it depends on the store. Just go to the makeup counter and ask. Some counters to req. that you a certain amount though..not all. If you dont want to "waste" a trip you could always just call up there before you head to the mall. have fun!

Yea babe that would be a good Idea for you.

I'm a makeup artist and I also used to worked for Lancome and Iman at department stores.

For the best makeup exp I would suggest you go to a MAC counter or store for a makeup session. You pay $40 (I believe the price will be going up to 50 soon) but the $40 goes towards any product/s that you buy.

As for under eye circles yes that would be concealer that you need. If you find a good concealer and have pretty decent skin you can get away with the concealer alone applied to certain parts of the face and you skin will look alot fresh.

You could also purchase a Makeup Book. My fav Makeup books are by Kevyn Aucoin.

Anything else you need to know just lemme know.

I've been to those counters, and frankly, I think they suck.

Go to MAC. Except for foundation...I really do not like MAC foundations. You can find some good foundations and concealers at Sephora.

I've never gone and asked for a full consult but I have gone to the Chanel counter looking for the perfect color medium tone lipstick for my face. I tried at least 10 of them and couldn't get them right. Then the lady helping me asked another sales associate, a man who was putting makeup on some frumpy old woman sitting in a chair. He just glanced at me and said to use such and such color with such and such liner and it was perfect! So I think wherever you go, if you get the right person it's a huge help.

Oh, and I never wore foundation much either. But I got Bare Escentials and I love it and wear it every day almost. It doesn't feel like you are wearing anything but it looks nice. it's powder.

I would advise, before you buy anything, to try what they have.

I can't wear foundations because it makes me break out massively...plus I hate feeling like I'm wearing a mask. Even the Bare Essentials...the first day I wore it, it was fine...the second day, my face would start itching a couple hours after I put it on (and my face would be red when I took it off) and the third, I only had it on for a short amount of time before the itching kicked in.

Most places will put the make-up on you and you can wear it for the rest of the day and see how it feels. Sephora carries all kinds of foundations, etc...and they will take anything back. I hate returning stuff...but I'll be damned if I am going to spend a ton of money on a foundation I can't wear.

So, try everything before you buy it...you don't have to buy everything that they are trying to sell you on...and its always best to wear the make-up outside and home to see how you really like it. The store lighting always changes the colors, slightly.
