    Default Walking and the Butt

    Hello
So on my ongoing quest for a better butt..
Ive been doing some serious butt watching

I do know that genetics/weight/diet/activity blah blah account for alot in how it looks but I noticed something interesting
Kids/Active people seem to walk leaning a bit forward
Flat board butt wide women and men with the no butt syndrom seem to lean back when they walk

So when I went out for my daily walk I tried an experiment
I tried leaning a bit forward when I walked.. It was kindof uncomfortable.. All the weight went straight to my butt.. mainly the upper part and it was alot more work than when I tried leaning back a bit..

I did my 4 mile walk all trying to lean a bit forward.. a little exaggerated even.. I did try to keep my chest up to help posture.. I probably looked like a rabid chicken but the whole time I felt my butt muscles pumping.. and my legs got sore.. normally my lungs give out before my legs are tired..

anyways just thought this was interesting

I just go on the treadmill and make it like a hill and just walk regularly. I think leaning forward for long periods of time might hurt the back.

Not only does it hurt your back, it's bad for it too.

Really? I read an article about ChiRunning and how leaning into your walk or run after aligning your body is the ideal way to move. Apparently that's how people run 100s of miles without injury.

I'll have to find the article. I know it was in "Experience Life" mag.

Maybe it's because people who lean a bit forward tend to be a little swaybacked??? When I align myself in a mirror my butt looks quite a bit more flat. I naturally walk a little forward, and with a bit of a swayback, and my butt usually looks pretty round.

^^when your back always looks kind of arched, curved inwards. I'm like this and I think a bunch of us get that way when we put on the heels.

Heels definately make it much more arched, but I'm arched more than just a bit naturally.

I walk 2 miles 3-4 times per week. And God did not grace me with an MTV booty either.

I do the same thing when I'm walking on campus. If I lean a bit forward (back still straight) I feel my butt/hamstrings are being worked more. It does make a difference.

I walk about 4 miles a day (a little over an hour) and this is day 4 of walking leaning a bit forward.. as long as you keep your chest up and your torso lifted your back stays straight.. i have no back pain at all.. actually i feel looser.. leaning a bit forward is alot like walking up a hill.. it is still a natural movement and shouldnt hurt your back its just an idea if you want to get more butt work in your normal day to day routine..

Walking in general is great for your ass and legs. Instead of chaning your posture when you walk I would honestly suggest just increasing your pace and using hillier areas to walk.

I remember seeing shoes before that had an angled sole, so that the toes are a little above the heels, so it's like walking uphill. My Google skills are weak this week and I can't find them; damn.

The term is used more frequently about horses:

Fergie walks at an incline of 15% at 2.5 mph for one hour, according to Shape magazine. She walks backwards on the treadmill as well. Both make her sqeeze her bum. She has a great ass.
