    Arrow My cat, Bibs.

If you have a moment, could you please say a prayer on my behalf (or similiar ritual) so that my cat Bibs will survive her exploratory surgery (survive the surgery with no complications as well as recover) as well as overcome whatever has been plague-ing her for the last month (and thus meant she has been in/out of the vet for the last month).

I'm not my usual self right now as my beloved darling cat (anyone who knows me knows she is more than "just a cat" to me) of nearly 14 years has been ill with something for the past month. She's be in/out of the vet as we (the vet and myself) try to figure out what is wrong.

The explorative surgery is only happening as all other avenues (blood tests and xrays) have been exhausted to try to find out what is up with her.

Thank you in advance for your prayers.

There is a photo of her @ http://www.geocities.com/ms_vee/ in the slideshow

I'll do a healing ritual for Bibs for you! I have 5 of my own, and would just fall to pieces if anything happend to them! 14 yrs is a long time and I know it's not easy to part with when the time comes, but know that whatever happens, good or bad, it's for a reason. When it comes time for her to pass, her little paw prints will forever be embeded on your heart.

I'm a sobbing bloody mess right now. The vet rang to inform me of the not great news .... it's a tumour that started in her stomach/intestines and kinda moved to her liver... it is also irremovable. They can't remove it without killing her. The vet has taken a biosphy (sp???) of the tumour to find out how bad it really is .... whatever... this hurts.

    My life sucks.

    aw thats sucks vee.

something i came to realise in the past week with jas being murdered.

death happens. everything that lives is ment to die. sure its sucks so damn bad, but its ment to be. be grateful of the time you had with your cat, nothing can replace that, but maybe for the sake of Bibs suffering, it should be ended.

everything happens for a reason aye. somehting positive always comes out of a negative. you may not see it for months down the track, but it does. your planning on moving soon- and you do alot of interstate travelling.

*hugs* i know how hard it is to lose a precious pet, a friend... but always look for the pocitive, otherwise you will never move on

Oh, sweetheart, I am so sorry to hear about this. I've made a life out of taking care of cats in distress and I can tell you to put your trust in your vets and spend as much time as possible with your little one.

The feline cardiologists told me my last cat had 3 months to live, max, and after much intervention, drugs and treatment, he lived for 2 great years.

Don't give up. Our thougths and prayers are with you.

I'm very sorry to hear that news. I love cats as well, and there's something so so special about their company. Just remember that you have given her the best and most comfortable life she could ask for. I'm sure if she could talk she would have many lovely memories and thank you's to share.

My thoughts are with you and Bibs.

I'm now so tired because I have been crying so much .... my crying isn't over by a long shot however I'm hoping that the news won't be SO bad tomorrow... as in the tumour is treatable. Some tumours can be "killed" (as such) thru treatment.

I know death happens. She isn't my first cat ever. I've had my mother transition back in Feb 1999 .... just that this one hurts more than most as she is the first cat that I personally have had to care for 100%

All the other times, I was lucky to a certain extent, as my parents took the financial burdern of the care of the cats. Bibs is the first cat I have had to look after myself.

With all my interstate travel, I would miss her lots however it gave me something to look forward to going home to and enjoying... if you know what I mean?

I drew alot of happiness from her. Now I can only draw sadness as I realise she is knocking on death's door.... how loud I will find out soon enough.

Just hoping/praying that the tumour is treatable. She isn't in pain as she hasn't shown any signs of being in pain... just being ill/weak.

Baby doll... you poor thing... poor Bibs... remember, if you need ANYTHING to help your baby... even if I have to pay for Bibsys surgery myself, I would. I know about your cat.

Remember how I felt when I first saw Bibs? I cried sooo hard because she looked just like my Misery. You know I would do anything to protect my now-gone Misery... and there's no way I'm letting anything happen to her twin.

    I'm here for you.

    And Bibs.

I recently lost a Cat. My beloved Picky Picky. He didn't die, or I dont think so. He was a streetcat and finally needed the help of humans after getting sick and I'd been praying for a cat. So he showed up, a fierce, independent and untrusting creature. But he took to me and only me and slowly learned to love and trust and show emotions to me. We learned alot from each other, me and Picky Picky. But after a while he was healthy and ready to go back to his life, he only stuck around because I think he thought it would hurt me to see him go. But when I went to college he had no reason to stay. So he took off to do his own thing. I miss him, though.

I've written a prayer for Bibs in my prayer journal. I also went and looked at her picture on "her" beanbag. What a gorgeous, flawless creature. I wish only the best for you and your lovely pet.

You know, if you are into alternative meds, look into poly-mva. It's not cheap, but it's helped my friend's cat with inoperable tumors a few years back.

I pray that the kitty gods are kind to your cat. Mine are 14 also. One was just in for constipation. The house was weird just missing the one cat.I asked for good vibes here and he pulled through.

Thank you soooo much everyone! The support is needed and I'm grateful. It's damn 5.30am in the morning as I type this as I awoke and just couldn't get back to sleep. She is very much playing on my mind.

PookaShell... what a lovely memory to have of that cat! It also speaks volumes about cats in general IMO. They only stick around to teach us what we need to learn and then move on... whether it be physically by leaving (I've had a few in my life go missing) or transitioning from this life (death).... they always leave lessons to be remembered.

I'm trying to figure out the lesson my cat, Bibs, is trying to teach me right now. I knew what lesson her "sister" (by circumstance not by blood as they were raised together) taught me when she died ( http://wpsg.tripod.com/smokey.html ) ... her sister taught me alot about grief and gave me all the tools I required so I could grieve for my mother's eventual transition (death). That cat taught me alot in life however even more so in her transition...

(as a side note, I will be using the Pet Funeral Rite I made and posted on Smokey's memorial page and most likely also use the Hag Prayer as a way to deal with my grief just like I did with Smokey)

If anyone would like to help me out with the vet bills my PayPal email address is [email protected] .......... this is only if you want to help out. I would highly appreciate ANY amount anyone can share with me... ANY amount... even if it is only $5 ... it will still help... I'm going to ask the vet when the bill finally does get finalised if I can pay it off over a couple of weeks as the total bill (due to all her visits, tests and the surgery now) is getting awfully close to the $1000 mark... and I can't really afford to part with that huge amount of money in one chunk... I can afford to part with that money over the period of weeks just not all in one go.

I love that cat of mine.... the financial strain of all this is also starting to get to me as well on top of it all. ARGH! Damnit!

I'm smart with my money however I didn't totally prepare for her to be ill at this very moment..... it caught be my surprise.

She is back home with me for the time-being. She has recovered from the surgery however now that I know it is tumour it explains why she can't go a few steps without resting for a bit. The tumour is obviously affecting her.

I'm glad she's home however sad she is so unwell. I'm doing my best with her whilst she is at home. I will make sure she eats and drinks. Takes her pills/tablets.

she looks very sad in that picture.

does this mean you are now in the unenviable position of deciding what is best for bibs? my siamese boy had stomach cancer too (many moons ago) and he got to the point where he couldn't keep a thing down, couldn't keep warm and was generally an unhappy fella.

i couldn't keep him here just to save me from feeling bad. he was in so much pain and living a shitty life with the tumour in his tummy.

it's a rat-shit decision to have to make... i'm thinking of you both - few things are worse than losing a furry child.
