    Default Ebay and health insurance

I have recently been inducted into the ebay power sellers program, thanks to some hard work, diligence, and 3 months of consistently meeting sales goals to qualify

I had no idea before, but one of the perks of being a power seller is a FREE health care discount card and discounted health insurance rates. I learned this when they sent me the email telling me I qualified for power seller and square trade. So, I just got health insurance to replace the policy I lost when I quit my other job (no cobra). I got to pick from many different plans on healthinsurance.com. I picked a PPO that's HSA compatible, with $1800 deductible (100% coverage after deductible). Monthly premium is a whopping $106 and I chose to add $50 monthly to go into the HSA. I can add more to the HSA at anytime if I want. AND, the 14day waiting period is waived so my coverage starts Dec1.

YAY!!! Any policies I looked at before were going to cost me @ $200/month. I guess this is what I get for all the high-ass fees I pay to sell on ebay

I've been waiting to get the new glasses I REALLY need, trying to decide on a decent policy and all (yeah, I'm a cheapass - I'd rather keep supergluing the fuckers together and put them on the insurance than buy them now at full price). Now I can get them cheap and I have good health coverage again, that doesn't cost me an arm and a leg. YAY!

Moral: Ebay power seller is the way to go for online business

Oh I have my issues with ebay, but there is no other online marketplace where you can literally post your stuff and start making money instantly. With some work and research to learn the tricks, you can grow a nice income there much faster than what's possible in any other online retail market I've heard of. I have had this ebay store 3 months now and it's making me some nice side money for just working on the computer - something I spend alot of time on anyway.

And the good thing about ebay's system is, once you build up a reputation, you get MORE business and they offer you more incentives to help you keep selling more. With the way my biz has grown in the last 3 months, I can totally see myself living off the online thing in a year, possibly less if I keep on the marketing. I will still dance until I'm sick of it, but it sure is nice to have something else going.

I don't see ebay as being pimpish really. They offer a place to buy and sell, and of course they take their cut in return. They do HEAVY marketing which attracts and keeps buyers, and so far I have had good experience with them in the few times I've had transaction problems. It's not like they just take your money for nothing

Oh yeah - to clarify, the health insurance is not provided by ebay or their subsidiaries. It's through regular ins companies (you choose); they just have some discount deal worked out (assuming it's some type of group thing).

^^I have both. I wanted to let the ebay thing run separately. It draws a different market than the regular website. I wanted to link the website from here because it's easier to deal with and I can list a TON more stuff there at no extra cost. More selection for shoppers. Also it's much easier for me to run specials on the website than on ebay, which I prefer to promote here too...

Now that I've got power seller, square trade and listed on ebay express, my sales have just about doubled on ebay. Some of the ebay buyers become website buyers of course - more selection and I can price things a little lower on the website too (lower fees), so they like that. They feel more comfy buying from my website once they've had a good purchase from the ebay store. Ebay is really for the more cautious buyers. Website draws more serious shoppers.

Anyway, they're 2 totally different deals and I think the website is better for SW. More products, more options, better prices, easier shopping, more specials. That's why I replaced the ebay link with the website link.

    /book. hehe
