Default Critters, the humane trapping of...

OK, there are large mice or very small rats--at least one--living in my magnificent studio. The landlord's reprentative/manager is freaking out, she wants to trap the little varmint(s).

I wasn't too concerned, really--until I saw little mousey droppings (2 of them) on my counter, and then tonight when I came home I saw out of the corner of my eye a little grey streak rushing for safety into the little kitchen cubbyhole.

I still don't care all that much, unless the little fellow is carrying Bubonic Plague fleas--what's he going to do, sneak up and bite my ass while I'm sleeping? Mice are cute, they aren't going to open the refrigerator door and cook my steak, are they?

But my landlord/manager will never rest. So I have to trap it (them).

She put down this little sticky pad/trap, but the critter is way too smart for that, and moved it, lol.

I refuse to use one of those brutal, horrible snap/trap things that will kill it quickly if it's lucky, but might just snag it and leave it to die a horrible wiggling death from thirst, shock, and hunger.

Of course, a cat would be ideal, and since I've already been toying with offering a massive bribe/deposit to get them to loosen up the 'no pets' policy, it would seem the perfect solution. But she's already pissed off that I'm a slob--not a good time to broach kitty cats.

of course the cat would inflict far greater pain and suffering on the little mousey than any trap would, but never mind that, I can't have one anyways.

So are there humane mousey traps that I could then take and drive the little fucker to a field and set him loose?

You might laugh, but I really don't want to hurt this little varmint--what has he done to me??

Yes sir there are. I'm pretty sure Hav-A-Heart makes no kill mousey traps. There are also these random ones I saw that just slide a door shut behind them once they go in. Flip thru the Yellow Pages or do a quick Google search, they do exist. (BTW, those glue traps are evil and creepy and wrong.)

Awww. How nice of you to humanely trap your mice. The only thing that bothered me when my house had mice was laying in your room alone and hearing "scufflescufflesqueaksqueakscuffle* coming from random parts of your room. I went with the Cat method. Kind of on accident though.

Good Luck. I've had several mice running around since Wilma...tried EVERYTHING....traps, mothballs(they arent supposed to like the smell)....I resorted to calling an exterminator after they cost me $700 for a new dishwasher(they chewed through all the lines behind it)....tons of poison...yep...still have one.
There are still holes that havent been fixed since the hurricane and thats how they are getting in. I hate to kill them..but I dont want them hurting my animals....namelygetting in my bird cage. And I have 2 cats...they dont care. Not every cat is a mouser!
I HATE those glue traps...SO cruel..teh snap traps are more humane..at least they die quickly. WIththe glue traps they are stuck and either suffocate(if they get their face stuck) or sometimes rip their skin off trying to get loose....horrible. I cant do that.
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.

We have a tough old cat. We don't see mice. And it's all natural.

At least out here, the issue with mice and droppings is hantavirus rather than bubonic plague or something.

Will you crap your pants if you find Robert The Doll jammed into one of the humane traps? He's been rumored to get out of his case & he's probably hungry after being locked up all the time.

Seriously, if you decide to go the "humane" route, while you wait for the mice to get rounded up....clean up all mouse droppings you find with Pine Sol spray or bleach- rodent droppings are bacteria-laden & especially ripe in tropical moist climates.

Yeah, Robert the Fucking Doll crossed my mind when the house manager mentioned the problem, and I noticed some wrappers had been carried/dragged into the long narrow cubbyhole back there.

If I saw Robert the Fucking Doll back there, I'd be busting out my axe, lol--it's still in the van but it'd be up here and hacking up Robert very quickly, lol!

But Robert the Fucking Doll got moved from the house next door to some museum a while ago, so he'd have a long walk/crawl to get back here.
