floor space - u need enough room to be able to comfortably do your spins without kicking things. i have mine in my loungeroom and i have a very small house and as long as the door is shut i have plenty of room and that's probably about half a metre between the pole and any other furniture.

installation - u need to work out where the beams in the ceiling are as the pole needs to be bolted into a beam for stability.
if u have false ceilings u can't instal this type of pole.

the X-pole does not have to be bolted into the ceiling - check out their website its hard to describe how it works but it stays there via pressure between the floor and the ceiling.

i have the ausdancepole one which is a removable static pole which bolts into a beam in the ceiling. it comes with a fake smoke detector cover for when its removed so that u cant see the bolts in the ceiling.

all up with delivery and installation by a carpenter it cost me $550 - well worth it IMO.
If you have a handy man he might be able to instal it for u and u will save on the $50 installation cost.

Well, pole...obviously! Many more exercise options with a pole, it won't break down, smaller, easier to resell...

Pole... because it's an OBVIOUS tax write-off, nobody can argue THAT one.

A pole will build your muscles AND burn calories. I'd say go for the pole. You probably wouldn't dread "working out" on it anyway.

    lol, thanks alena!

ideally, 6ft around the pole...but if you're shorter than me 5' 6" then you can get away with 5ft around.

my fantasy dance poles can't be shipped to aus..however the ps super poles can....i LOOOOOOVE my superpole!

I got an x-pole and LOVE it.

They say that you should be able to put one hand on the pole and keeping your arms outstretched, walk all the way around it without knocking into anything.

    Good luck!!

depending on where in Melbourne, Aus you are, my pole dance teacher sells poles for $260 and that comes with installation plus you get a choice of colour (metallic pink is very sexy!) they are also removable and don't damage ceilings.

i didn't know of any other places in Melbourne to get poles apart from

    and

(Aus made, expensive though, more club like)

good luck finding a pole thats right for you though

    Get the X Pole!

I've got mine up and the boy's house and it's really easy to remove and set up each time. You memorise the steps after you do it a few times. I bring it with me whenever I can. You'll love it!!!
