Default Oh, crap. I'm "that girl."

So I got sent home from work today for being fat. I got pulled aside when I first went in and was told, in no uncertain terms, that I'm not to return until I'm skinnier.

The weird is that I'm the same weight as when I last danced at this club. In the interim, I got pregnant, had an abortion and I look pretty much the same as before, at least so I thought (and so everyone told me).

So I'm going to go to the gym for the next, um, ever and forget that I have a life outside cardio and weights.

God, I hate being that girl.

Ouch, that hurts... sorry to hear about that. Well hell, you get a sort of vacation out of it I guess. It can be a "working-out" vacation. Good luck, you'll get it back!

Who knows? maybe your body repositioned parts so you might be the same weight and yet it looks different? or else managment is changing who works there. I'm sorry babe-- that sucks. We had "the talk" at my club given to all the girls in the lockerroom because of Christmas coming up but no one was singled out.

So, what are you going to decide? Another club? or is the money good enough at this place that it's worth using it as motivation to get even more in shape? <--- you probably are "in shape" but I, who's about twenty pounds over the "stripper weight" would probably use any motivation I could get.

Oh my god, i don't think my club would ever tell a girl they were too fat. We have some quite large girls in our club - management just takes the view that if there's something tooooo wrong with them they won't make money and will leave on their own i think!

But I've actually noticed the larger girls seem to do quite well...

aw that sucks. i remember being demoted from 'the fancy club' to the 'put out to pasture' club because i was 5lbs over their ideal! wtf.

i nearly cried when he told me i was fat... (lie, in fact i did cry...)

then at the pasture club i got fatter than ever because it seemed i could sell champagne better than dances. heh.

your body is probably a little on the confused side. you'll be right... you know what you have to do. sigh. as boring as that is...

That's one of my biggest fears at my club!! And I try really hard most of the time to look good...take this as your motivation to go from looking okay to looking GREAT.

Yeah, so I went to the gym for 6 hours. Cardio and weight training. My legs are still twitchy. Ick. I'm also tanning again, something I hate but will make me look skinnier.

I was told to return "when the issue has been resolved." What the bloody hell does that mean? I didn't ask at the time because I was wrapping my head around the whole "being fat" thing. I'm 5'2", 130 pounds. I'm a healthy weight by regular standards. What's good by stripper standards?

It absolutely depends on the body type. For example, I'm 5'8" and by stripper standards I should be weighing in at somewhere between 125 and 135. However, I'm 155. Don't get any complaints--I do have a nice ass.

I heard that at 5' you should be about 100, and then add 5 pounds for each inch. So that would put you at 110 (and me at 140), but that gets tweaked depending on body type, if you've got a butt or boobs. If you've got neither, you've got to figure your weight is in the undesirable areas, but I doubt that's the case. Aim for 120 and you should be fine. Nice part is that you can loose that in water weight plus a couple pounds of fat in a week and go back. Then as you get water weight back, you'll continue loosing fat (as long as you're working out.) But at least it gets you back at work.

It also might be that particular manager. It's sneaky but you could always go in on a different manager's shift, tell him/her what the previous manager said and then ask for clarifications on weight and the "issue." Perhaps he mistook you for someone else because you made it sound like you haven't worked there for awhile?

Lose weight if YOU want to, but I wouldn't go back to that club. I would just tone up a bit and find another club and never look back. That's terrible.

I'd want to crawl into a hole.

I am 5'4 and just lost 7 lbs on the south beach diet. Now I
weigh 110. The funny thing is people are like whoa you look
great, you lost alot of weight. Well I never knew I was fat at
    117. I thought I looked fine. Maybe it was all centered on my
butt and legs. Anyway the weight comes of very quick with
the south beach diet. So if you can't take alot of time off
    work, I'd suggest that diet.

the south beach diet is awesome. i lost a lot of weight on that. i really should go back on it.

eh, as for what weight you should be... who knows. it's all fucked. i'm 5'9" and 128lb and i still get told i'm too fat (not by my current club, but by a lot of customers and i know there's other clubs that won't take me cos of my weight). it's not because i'm overweight, but because the majority of the weight on my body positions itself on my ass, hips & thighs. i have a small flat stomach, very thin arms and lower legs, then fuckin HUGE thighs hips & ass, so it makes me look a lot bigger than i am.

it's all about proportion, really. that's such a shitty thing of them to say though.

I'd be lying if I said that it didn't cross my mind. Everyone (and I really do mean everyone) has said that I look exactly the same as when I stopped dancing. I wouldn't have gone back otherwise. My first shift back, I made the same kind of money I did before, even for having a rusty hustle. And not one of the customers mentioned my size as a problem, even though we get some assholes (okay, a lot of assholes). I still wear a 4, fer chrissake. Granted, I have hips and an ass, but that was never a problem beforehand. If anything, my genetic betrayal, while making it difficult to find jeans, made me a good deal of money. Hmm.

Dammit, this used to be a cool club. Now they're making me all neurotic-like.

okay-- then it's NOT you if you've gotten such multiple feedback.

sounds like a) the manager is just being a dick (pretty common,) b) they might be scaling down the average club size (what'd the other 4 size girls say?) or c) he really thinks you're someone else (like, what issues? this might point out why he's being a dick.)

Oh honey!.... That stings...maybe you just lost some muscle tone. 6 hours in the gym is a bit much and you could run your immune system down that way. 1-2 hours should be enough and drink lots of water too...Don't worry , you will make them eat their words

Ok sorry, one more thing...when I have had to lose weight fast, I cut out bread, sugar (of ANY kind..yes wine too) fried foods and dairy products. Add an hour a day of cardio and watch your weight dwindle.Think lean protein, veggies, and water, water, water.

I promise to stop posting now...Good luck sweetie.

So this is the same club that makes you do the photo finale? It sounds terrible, there must be somewhere better you can work.

Well I see it as a good thing that your club is doing quality control. Do you want to be at a club that allows just anyone to work there? I'm sorry you're faced with this situation, but sounds to me as though you're ready and willing to shape up. Being in shape will be better for you all the way around, not just for work. Six hours may be a bit extreme though, you don't want to burn out after one workout. I put myself on weight notice about 5 months ago. Since then I've been eating right, working out 4 days a week...for an hour, and I'm loving the results. I look and feel better, people are complimenting my body..it's great. BTW, I'm 5'2 107lbs. I'm sure you'll be able to go back to work in no time! As for management, try not to look at it as a personal attack..they're providing a place for you to work that maintains high standards...that's a GOOD thing. Best of luck to you!!
