    Default New car time

After nearly seven years of faithful service, it's time to trade in my Accord.

This time, I will go for something sportier and two-door. Anyone like what Honda offers? I have owned two Hondas--Accord now, used Prelude before--and found them to be marvelously dependable.

    Opinions?

Also, what's the hot car-buying site these days? I used one for the current car, and found the experience pretty painless and trouble-free. Then again, there's a dealership three blocks from my house. So at a minimum, I can window shop there first.

The S2000 is not as reliable as the rest of the Honda lineup, but as a roadster it's to be expected. While it might be fun if you're constantly in a redlining mood, S2000 can make driving a PITA if you do mostly mild manner driving, as someone with an Accord would probably do. The car is meant to be a little speed demon at ALL times.

If you want something sporty, look into the new Acura TSX. Has the room of the Accords, but more sporty feel, as well as the luxury of an Acura.

If you'd like something smaller, the Civic Si is nice and compact with adequate power.

If you really liked your Accord, I would also check out the new ones. Great reviews, just get yourself a 6 so it won't feel like a slug.

Thanks, Corsica! Yes, a 6 whatever I do this time. My current ride is a 4--and boy do I feel underpowered.

Didn't the new Civic get the Motor Trend car of the year?

The S2000 would suck on snow in Chicago. The snow issue is why I didn't consider it.

plus as an only car, it's tiny. What if you needed toilet paper at Costco?

It sounds like you just want a newer Accord with better options. No shame in that. If you really want to upgrade to a new level look up the TSX or TL. You can't really go wrong with a Honda.

The Accord is a heavy car, it NEEDS a 6

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with street parking--no garage--and so I'm reluctant to go too high-end. I'm going to check out the smaller, snazzier Hondas this weekend.

General recommendation, 1 or two year old ex rental/fleet. Our Falcon was like that it was a very good car. I don't think I would buy brand new even with American prices.

Well then, if you'd be afraid of a TSX or TL getting ripped off or tagged because it's nice, I'd definitely go for a new Accord coupe then. Nice enough without drawing too much extra attention.

I like Honda S2000s but remember one 2 things about Honda/Acura. Heres a little 411:
    *cops target Hondas (Acuras too)
*thieves target the following models from Honda/Acura
Honda Civic Si coupe/sedan, Honda S2000, Acura Rsx Type S, Acura Tsx (if its stick)
P.S. If you dont mind the stigma/reputation thats comes with owning a Honda then go for it. One thing people need to understand are Acuras are "glorified" Hondas, and in Japan there is no Acura...just Honda. They only gave us Acura for the "label lovers" who want the A badge. Plus i lost faith in Honda because of the tranny issues that we have with my aunt's 2002 Acura TL, gear grinding from my 05 Civic Si and gear grinds from friends with the Acura Rsx Type S and Acura Tsx. Even peeps who i talk to (im a member of Ephatch/ClubRsx) on Honda/Acura forums say that their new 06/07 Civic Sis have gear grinds...and they know how to drive a stick so i know it aint them. Imo here are my choices for "sporty"/sports cars:
*not neccesarily 2 door/2 seaters but manual:
    1.Nissan 350z
    2.Mazda Miata
    3.Scion TC
    4.Lexus Is350
    5.Mitsubishi Evo
    6.Subaru WRX sti
Just my 6 cents. G luck

I'm sorry hun, but cops target MANY cars, not just specifically Hondas.

    As for your choices:

    1. Very quick car for the money. Once again, like Emily stated about room though; no back seat. Roadster. Cops love these too.
    2. Not such a huge target for cops. ANother two seater with no room. Only negative is you have to be a small person to fit in one. And even if you're short enough, you still might not be able to fit in the car with the door closed.
    3. Not bad. A lot of options, but can get pricy with them and you can get more for your money by the time you add options.
    4. You think cops target Hondas? Well get ready for every fan boi to try to race you, and everyone else thinking "Snob Appeal". Also just an overpriced Toyota, and not really worth the mark up.
    5. Cops LOVE to pull these over for any little thing, or just follow it to see if the driver effs up. DSMs are notorious for breaking down at any cough. Not a good daily driver, as this is basically a street legal racer.
    6. Same as Evo. Even though it's my favorite, cops will also case you big time. On a plus side, its very roomy and sporty.

Ladies, ladies. Don't have a fight over my car choice! (A fight over me, especially in a duck pond, would be lovely, on the other hand.)

Corsica, if I get around to buying a new, sporty vehicle, I'll think about a road trip to AZ to thank you properly. I mean a hand shake, sickos. Heheh.

LOL, I just like to share my knowledge and experience. (After all my dad and his friends are all car junkies).

Good luck on your choice CE, and let us know which new baby you picked up

I just bought a 2006 Honda Civic Si. Gotta love their dependability. I could afford so much more right now (my job has been going very well recently), but why would I want to? My Honda gives me exactly what I want in a car right now. Reliability, great gas mileage, and it's fun to drive.

Can't go wrong with a Honda!

Cool. PM me please with what you paid & what options? I already heard back from a couple dealers via the Web car dealership thingy. Probably go kick tires on the weekend. My dad used to get a new vehicle every three years. Been six for me. I think I'm due.

Exactly, Emily. That's what I did. One of two dealers already called me and left voicemail. But I didn't see the "prices paid" link. I'll go look at that. Thanks!
