Bad tippers who (pay with a credit card) are exposed - as is the city they dined in. Best part: if you see your name there, they allow you to post an apology :-)

huh. no records. wonder if this is more of a regional thing.
HAHAHA those people soo deserve it. Cheap fucks. Every time my b/f & I eat out, I'm always trying to throw in extra money for the tip.
Love that site. I waitressed and bartended for awhile along with dancing. I always tip way over- if not, I feel bad. Real bad. And, I usually have a lot of $1's lying around... Wonder why.

I didn't find anyone with even my last name on that site... Which means my family tips as well as I do (EVERYONE should have to work food service at some point in their lives, lol). However, my last boyfriend was a fucking HORRIBLE tipper (but this was merely due to his selfish nature) and his name isn't on there. THAT I find surprising...
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

Then why are you still a bad tipper now?
I waitressed for a few months to transition out of dancing. It absolutely sucked ass. People would work you to death and not tip you. My feet hurt much worse waitressing than they did dancing. Women would be so fucking mean to me b/c their husbands/dates were checking me out, then I had to wait for another server to show up and take over my shift, and ANOTHER server to tell me that my salt and peppers were in the right place, etc....
Fuck that. Where are my stilettos?

I usually tip fairly well, 20% or more. BUT I've been known to have no tip on the credit card and leave a cash tip, figuring (perhaps wrongly, I don't know) that they might do better without it documented. I think now I better just start leaving it on the card. You never know.
No, it it better because they get cash right away without having to wait for the paycheck, adn they don't have to report it to taxes.
I'm waitressing, and I hate it. I can generally flirt good tips out of men, but there are some really shitty tippers. The other day, I had someone write, "Did not like server or service" in the tip line. This is a person who comes once a week, pulls the same shit, yet is spoiled and extolled by the managers.
I didn't get credit card tips on my paycheck. I got them at the end of the night when I'd cash out. Basically, I'd have all the money from everyone's meals in my apron, and before leaving I'd tally it all up to find out what I owed the restaurant; then I would subtract my credit card tips and keep that part of the cash (and of course my cash tips too). Speaking personally, I would much rather have had cash tips than credit card tips, because I had to declare all my credit card tips.
Anyone who doesn't tip your food service personnel, think hard about karma. I was a waitress for most of a decade, making $2.13 an hour plus tips. The federal minimum wage for tipped employees is only $2.13, and while some states enforce the full minimum wage, most don't. Like strippers, waitresses live on their tips. Unlike strippers, they have no autonomy and very little power to actually help you. Waitresses also deal with far more harassment (including sexual harassment) and job problems than strippers do, for far less pay.
I quit my last waitressing job when a customer (who wasn't even mine) threw a live cockroach into my face and laughed when I screamed, and when I told the manager, he comped the guy's whole check. I went home and told my ex-husband, "I'll never wait tables again. I'll be a stripper if I have to. It's GOT to be less degrading." And it is.
I'm a tip nazi. Yikes, sorry. I plead being brought up by a kiwi.
I tip 15% on a normal day, and will tip more for exceptional service, but I've no problems tipping $0 for shitty service.
But seriously, American service is excellent. I always tip well in the States; I don't think I've ever gotten shitty service from a waiter/waitress down there. Up here, all the time.
I'm not on the list, but probably will be sometime.

Awesome, no one with my last name is listed!
Some Douchebag: "[Pimp C] 12:43 am: its true we got to stick together the black people on SW CK you is teh condoleeza of SW"
I noticed Clive Owen and Lebron James on there. Since James was in Vegas, it probably really was him, but I'm not sure whether it was Clive Owen the actor or a different guy with the same name. I hope it was a different guy, because I have a crush on the actor.![]()

Well first off, the site doesn't work, but from what I've read people's last names are listed. Isn't that invasion of privacy? Sure bad tippers are annoying but that doesn't give you a right to put their name on a site because they stiffed you a few dollars.

This is why I always use cash folks, then again, I don't make it a habit of going to eateries where the bill can easily approach three digit range.
Yep. Credit card information is supposed to be private, so the folks at BW may be potentially putting themselves at risk of a defamation suit if someone wanted to press the issue. Then again, all we have is a name, some dollar amounts, and whatever the poster submitted in the details section.
Now much like Janessa, I want to commit to being a shitty tipper too. Here's why...
From BW website:
a shitty tip is, by my definition, any gratuity under 17% for service which one's peers would judge as adequate or better (eg. orders are correct, on time, special requests are honored, etc.)
So why am I a shitty tipper? Well, I've simply made it a habit as most restauraunts to tip one-sixth of the bill, which only comes to 16.66%, although I often use the post-tax amount (its simply easier to calculate when you're high on Perkins mammoth muffins).
And it should be pointed out, almost every source I've read on tipping says the industry standard for adequate service is 15% of the pre-tax amount, not 17%, and not 20% as this other tipping website suggests that it should be.
I can understand the griping when the tips are below 10%, but someone bitching that they only got tipped 12-16%, really needs a ego check. Some folks are just mathematically impaired. And while I understand the need for service industry workers to vent, I gotta say that their logic isn't sound. If people can't afford to go to eat out because the bill with the gratuity included is out of their price range, they simply won't go. Then nobody gets tipped.
Here's an opposing viewpoint on tipping. Don't say that I didn't warn you.

And I also find it alittle scary that everyone is poking fun at a situation that isn't that funny. What if you had a bad waitress, and by her standards bringing the drinks late and getting your order wrong was normal for her, and she still deserved the 17 percent, or whatever, and put your name up there for tipping 10 percent. I seriously hope that site gets flack for breaking the law.

I had it the same way. Got my tips every night.
Working for $2 an hour sucks. Really sucks. Anyone who hasn't worked in food service has no idea how may bad tippers there are.
One night in particular stands out in my mind. A guy took his girlfriend out to dinner, spend $160 (mind you, at a restaurant where most people get out for under $20 a head) and was nice enough to round up and leave me a measley $.23. Yes, not even a quarter. They spent 3 hours sitting at that table, leaving me a table short for the better half of the night.
I wanted to kill that guy. He had the balls to thank me for the night and hand me the signed bill saying, "Here you go. I'm so bad at math."
OMG, that happened to me too. A guy and two women came into my section right after I was cut, and I agreed to stay because they looked like they would spend money. Sure enough, the three of them stayed for three hours (mind you, AFTER my shift was done) and ran up a tab of $173.23. The guy gave me $175 cash and said, with this great air of generosity, "You can keep the change." FUCK YOU!
I love Bitterwaitress, been reading it for years. I agree w/ what Yek said. Waitressing is much more degrading than dancing. I worked at a Fridays for a while and I'm sure I'm somehow scarred.
As for the tipping, I always tip at least 15% but generally 20%. There is no excuse for being a shitty tipper other than the fact that you are either broke or selfish. If you can't afford the tip, you shouldn't be eating out. We gripe and moan on here when cheap ass guys come into the club and don't spend money and just stare for free. It's the same thing. I can't help but get all militant about the tipping thing.
