Yesturday, on a whim, I changed my usual "Non-fat, tall latte" order to a "No-foam, non-fat, tall latte." Later in the day, after a few more office coffees that morning, I yelled (over e-mail) at two friends. While I'm not saying I didn't have reasons--work and social life have been stressful lately--but my extreme reaction puzzled me. Last night, as I calmed down with a great dinner and a glass of red wine, I reviewed the day's events. The only change in my routine was the different coffee!
Is it possible the non-foam version of a latte zapped me with just enough extra caffine to cause my emotions to flare?
I already know that I cannot handle caffine drinks the way I did in my 20s. These days, I cut them off before noon or face becoming an agitated ninny who needs to take high-speed strolls around the neighborhood every hour or so.![]()
