I got a letter from the City of Los Angeles saying that I have to register as a business, pay a penalty fee for not doing it sooner, and pay taxes on my dancer income from 2005. I went down there today and showed them that I made less than $5000 as a dancer in 2005 (I started in September and only danced part-time), so they gave me some things to sign to waive the penalty and setup fees.
However, I still owe them $110 because I didn't file with them by March 1, 2006. I didn't know I was supposed to! My asshole accountant should've told me that. I called him after I got the letter last week and he said I don't owe them anything, but it turns out I have to file with them by March 1 for that to be true. Stupid fucker! I don't have an extra $110 lying around!![]()
At least now I know to go in by next March 1 so I won't have to pay it again... but I'm pretty pissed off!
