Default fighting the urge/need to go home

i was reading the other thread "end of night rush" and it is definately true that in my club on the weekends there is a lot of easy $$$$$$$ to be made just before closing time - which is generally 5:30 - 6:30am depending on how busy we are.
i just can't do it. i start at 7pm (getting ready), on floor by 8pm, on the weekends I am doing a 15 min stage set every hour, selling dances (usually one after the other on busier nights) and by about 4am my body aches to the point where i end up leaving even though the club is still busy and I know i am missing out on a few hundred extra dollars.

last saturday night was a perfect example, it was 5am - the club was still very packed and guys had that desperate look where they are in need of a dance before closing. i had guys approaching me asking for dances (my fav kind of customer, the one i dont have to ask) and i did my final $50 dance and then pretty much ran to the dressing room.
i was soooooooo mad at myself i know i could have easily made more but i thought if i did one more dance my body would just not have coped with it. our private dance area is upstairs and the last time i walked down those stairs my knees felt like they were about to give way.

how to u girls combat fatigue? are u able to push through the pain and tiredness to make that extra money before closing?

Yummm! Red Bull! Think about how much more money you could make-that should be motivation enough!

You may not be leaving any money on the table. If you really cannot perform at the level you want, you are better off just leaving than pissing off a customer with a tired dance. I know around closing we are begging for dances so you may get away with it but you are probably better off not getting a reputation for tired dances.

When my 5 hour shift is up, I'm usually ready to bolt for the door, unless I'm in VIP...my body just can't take more than that.

Cant you start later? Is you started at 10pm for instance then thats just an 8 hour shift and much easier to handle.
My trick is to sleep and rest as much as possible during the day, not to do much physical stuff, make sure I eat properly through the day. I think your body also gets used to it over time. Keep some snacks at work too for an extra energy boost - that can make the world of difference.
Sometimes if you just stay suddenly your body adjusts and you just find the energy from out of nowhere, othertimes though if youre really really tired its best just to go home. Sometimes when you are not feeling 100% it shows and you end up just not making the $ anyway.

yea, that's really nuts jaizane, 10+ hours! your body is taking all sorts of abuse at that point. i agree with APS, see if you cant start later.

    Love it!

a rep for tired dances? Because those few guys nightly will have the time to complain about your dances before closing and gossip enough so you get a bad rep? Are you kidding me?

And please, if you get mad after a tired 25 dollar dance with me, I wouldn't want to ever dance for you again anyway.. Mad over that., jesus If you do a 400 or 500 champagne room and your mad because i fall asleep (of course i never have) THEN YOU HAVE A REASON TO BE MAD.

And tired dances? At the end of the night everyone is tired.

    take breaks!

i also agree with eating snacks. one night i worked without eating dinner and it was very hard to climb the pole and give good dances. i recommend good food like fruit, nuts, turkey, and whole-wheat bread. get some fiber, protein, carbs, and fat and you're good to go! water helps a lot. if you don't like energy drinks, try a tea from celestial seasonings called fast lane (it's available on their website)--that's a powerhouse of borrowed energy.

get more rest and take breaks.

i would love to start a bit later but the club doesn't like it. the later u start, the later u get signed of tables too so the last time i started at about 10pm i was still having to dance on tables at 5am! then again, it's probably better because the money tends to be at the end of the night not the start of the night. ill try to get later starts, i think it's a good idea. just depends on whether i can get away with it!
i don't take many breaks or take any food with me so i will take all your advise - that's probably why i have no energy. i don't get very hungry when i've been dancing for some reason.

since this is a job that requires lots of movement you need energy to keep you going. eat, eat, eat!

Well Im not sure how your club works with table tipping, but I never minded doing late tables because the last few tables for the night can be very lucritive and better money for the time than doing lap dances or private shows for the same amount of time. I guess it may depend on where you work though.
Sushi is my favorite work snack, its so easy just to shove down a few pieces whilst touching up hair and make-up and then run back to work!

we don't get tipped for tables unless we do a $20 table dance - take everything off like private but just on tables. u get the odd guy who just tips coz he llikes your set but generally they only pay when they are getting a table dance.

im definately going to take this advise on board and eat at work. we do have a vending machine if im desperate but i like the sushi idea - nice and healthy.

I deal with this a lot, some nights I am wiped out--but I can't go home for any reason whatsoever, and I have to stay upbeat and energetic on the mike, all night long, even if it's a lame, slow night. For this reason the lame nights are generally way harder than the busy ones.

The snack thing is great advice--just avoid starchy or fatty foods (like sushi would of course be perfect). In fact I think I will take that advice myself, as I've been having trouble with fatigue and stress since the other DJ quit.

If you could take a short break about halfway through the night it would probably help immensely, as well--and any time you lost would be more than made up for by the increased energy you displayed when it really counted. I wish to hell I could do this, but it's out of the question.

most nights, i make a 1/4 of my $$$ money in the last hour. this is due to the fact that most of the other girls punk out an hour before close.

i just try to remember how many times i've made most of money just before closing time & push myself no matter how tired/shakey i am. most guys actually seem to get a kick out of the fact that i'm pushing myself to the limit just for them. they're like, "oh. you've had along day & you're tired". to which i respond, "yeah. but getting to dance for you made it worth it.".

i take a snack break about an hour & a half before closing. it consists of a sugary granola bar & a coke, finished with a cigarette (i''m a serious smoker & need a nicotine fix to focus). while i have my cigarette, i fix my hair and makeup & psych myself up. then i go out on the floor and give it my ALL for the last hour. 9 times out of ten, it's been weeeeell worth my while to stick it out no matter how blah i may be feeling. i mean, think about it: i'm one of only 4 girls left and it's 1:45; the guys that are still hanging in there are there for dances, no BS involved; i'm gonna sell dances.

I tell myself to go out there for 20 more minutes and then I can leave early... I never actually end up leaving early because I get caught up working. So, I basically lie to myself, lmao. But, on the rare occassions that I DON"T get caught up working or even talking to someone, I'll just leave a couple minutes early.

are you changing shoes throughout your shift? That helps on long shifts if your body is creaking. Switch from heels to boots.
