How long to heal and how much does it hurt? I'm curious

A month to heal or throw another 2 weeks on that. It depends on how much and how many areas of fat are taken. It feels like the dr beat you up. You may get black and blue but you will most certianly swell up a great deal, looking bigger than you did when you walked in. Most of the swelling is down in 3 months and 10% over the next 3-6 months. Well worth it.![]()

My co-worker who has had lipo twice in the last year told me that it feels like your skin is detached from you body even after your 6 weeks of wearing that ugly lipo suit. It doesnt hurt that the skin is detached from your body but just feels really gross as its healing back to your body.

6 weeks of the post lipo suit? damn!
I didnt feel that way...just felt like I'd been beat up for a cpl weeks! (though yes, the crotchless zip up bike pants WERE ugly!!)Some bruising, lots of swelling. But after a month or so tha pain was better...took about 3-4 months for the swelling to go fully down so I could truly see the results.
I think that the recovery time and pain would prob vary from person to person..and would also depend on how much you had done at once and what areas...I'm sure some area are more tender than others and the more you have done at once the more pain you'll be in.

Oh she got the max sucked out both times. Maybe thats why. Yea its taken her that long for the swelling to go down too. She was puffy when she came back to work but I dont think guys could tell at all. Yea she even pooped on hers once ..at least they give you two. I guess its hard to manuver in those things.
What kind of pain do you think it is? Like a dull pain, sharp, stabby...?

How everyone reacts to these sugeries is different. Thank God we are all different.
I wear my lipo gear for 2 months to really see/feel the result. I am very compulsive when it comes to post-op care. You have to be. Taking too many pain pills can keep you swollen more as well.
LOL... I never did that..but yes they take som egetting used to!
I can only speak for myself, but for me the pain was just like I'd been beat up. Like someone had pummeled me with their fists and now I was feeling the resulting bruising way down deep into my muscles. After the first few days it wasnt TOO bad...after a few weeks I had no pain at all.

is this the recovery time for tumescent lipo? I heard that was better and used for people close to their ideal weight.
I'm also interested in knowing about about smartlipo. It looks interesting:

Yes it was painful but it was worth it don't you think?![]()

I won't get a chance to consult with the doc until febuary but im pretty sure i just want my lower abs done. On his website it mentions something about it can be an in-office procedure. That is what i am going for because i want to remove a VERY VERY small amount.
I will be out of work for a whole month?

I have had very small amounts taken in the office and it hurts for a bit. I did that three times....
The least he has removed around my belly button awake was 120 cc's. Which is a drop of fat.
I plan on getting more fat removed in Feb as wel.![]()

If you go in for very small amounts removed then what procedure is best for that?

It's still lipo they just don't pull out the huge lipo machine. They use a needle and something to collect the fat and the blood. Take valium 1 1/2 hr before they start. You get a local too.
It's very simple and painless.![]()
I'm reading a lot about smartlipo
They were doing it in Europe and it just became approved here. It sounds like the best way to go from what I'm reading.
Less invasive (local anesthetic, no stitches needed), less bruising, quicker healing time, less painful, tightens skin and less expensive!
the big drawback is that you can't take too much out, but whatever....I don't want a lot out.

Emily, I was wondering about smartlipo too. Is it the same as VASER? There is a doctor in Tampa who does VASER, which is laser lipo. I think it's the same thing but there isn't much info on it out there. I've been thinking about getting lipo for years but I'd be willing to wait for a better way of doing it.
I can't find much on smartlipo. it seems only 15 doctors in the US do it. it's not the same as VASER.

ahh, I couldn't even find anything on it really when I researched it a few months ago. I had just read a magazine article on it. I'd like to see some before and afters of smart lipo after it's been done for a while longer. Sounds very promising.

SMARTLIPO? Never heard of it..I think liposuction in general is smart. I love to get my fat removed.![]()
^^^^check out the links, it's pretty cool because it minimizes the negatives of the procedure

Is there a website? How is differnt from tumencent lipo? If you take fat at small volumes it's not too bad for you.
Can you explain it to me?![]()

yeah, I posted a link earlier in the thread.
it's different because it uses a laser to melt the fat.
