    Default Henna!

Beauty Bar in Hollywood (they also have locations in San Francisco and New York) has a happy-hour special until 9 pm or so, where for $10 you get a martini and a manicure. I've been wanting to do this for awhile, so when a girlfriend called last night and suggested we go, I was down.

Turns out we had a choice! You can either get a manicure OR a henna tattoo. I've had manicures before and I always think afterward that I would've done a better job myself, but I've never done henna and I've always liked it. So I got my martini (a delicious concoction of vanilla vodka, ginger ale, and lime), and settled in for some henna painting. I got a really pretty flower on the back of my hand, about an inch under my pinkie knuckle, with curly, leafy vines extending from my wrist and going up my middle finger all the way to the nail. I absolutely love it - so much that I want to get a permanent tattoo like this!

Anyone else do henna? It's a lot of fun! Neat way to do something different...

I love Henna tattoos. Whenever I go down to Florida, I have one done around my bicep.

It's the one tattoo I've always wanted but will not get because it's hard to hide, so I go for the Henna ones.

Mine lasts for the week that I'm down there, then it fades.

But they are so pretty and delicate looking aren't they?

Oh, I was just thinking about if there was a place I could get them done regularly. Any ideas?

I don't know where else they do them down there...I always get mine at Epcot.

This is a pic of it (I know it's not that clear). And no comments on what a dork I look like, lol!

It really is delicate... this one for some reason is darkest at the tip of my finger, and then as it goes toward my wrist, it gently fades to a lighter color. It's a neat effect. I love this and I want a real tat just like it!

BTW, when my friends were getting their manicures, we all got to talking and apparently the big celebrity fad now is the "chipped polish" look. They will actually spend a huge sum on getting a perfect manicure, and then have the manicurist take nail polish remover and a toothpick to remove the polish in bits near the tip and make it look "chipped." That's the dumbest damn thing I've ever heard! Has anyone else heard of this?

Cool - it sounds lovely! I used to do my own henna, but it takes too long for me to bother now. Oh the thingsi did in the days before I had internet, lol! Going to a salon is definatly the way to do it. I couldnt stand being at home and having to wait for it to dry and NOT be able to use the internet whilst waiting. I used to do my palms though - i have the wrong shade of skin to do the backs of my hands.

I'm super pale, so it shows up really well on me. I want to get them done so that I always have them, are there diy kits? I'd rather have someone else do it. I'll bring my kit to a tattoo shop and ask them (w/ steady hands) to do me a henna tat. That'll be a new one, I bet.

Surprised? Why should we care enough to be surprised?

Don't know WHY...just in my nature to be curious as to why these things actually become trends.

Are you questioning my curious nature?

Actually, I'm thinking about what you look like in bed, from behind, with those ears on.

    That's just my nature

Have y'all ever noticed henna getting DARKER with time? It seems weird... I had my henna tat done on Thursday night. Friday morning it was really dark at the fingertip, then by Friday night almost half the tat was dark like that, and now on Saturday almost the whole thing is this very rich, dark sienna. It's still light near my wrist, but the darkness seems to be spreading. This seems odd because I figured it would fade, and it's actually getting darker!

I have a big party tonight and I'm so excited to show this off. It's gonna be pretty!

    That's so pretty, Yek.

We went to a party a couple of months ago, and Makayla had a Henna Tattoo done on her foot...she absolutely loved it.

I used to get Henna Tattoos all the time...it fulfilled my craving for a tattoo without actually getting a permanent one (mainly because I change my mind too much).

Thanks, y'all! It still looks great. I might do this on a fairly regular basis. $10 for a martini and pretty henna - can't beat that! Anybody in L.A. want to join me next time?
