    Default Eating after work

Do you girls eat when you get home from work ? I know you aren't supposed to eat at night or before you go to bed but when I get off I am starving after 6-8 hours of dancing. I know night eating is supposed to make you gain weight but I can't sleep when I'm hungry! I saw my friend tonight and she looks unbelievable. I asked her what she's been doing and she told me that she stopped eating after work. You should see her. She's stunning....What do you all think about that and what are your habits?

    Calories are Calories are Calories.

I have a small, protein nutrient meal every night before I go to sleep. In fact, I just finished off a yummy scoop of cottage cheese and a container of light yogurt. The dairy makes me sleepy and I also know that my body has the nutrition it needs to repair itself while I rest. I burn sooo much energy with intense weight training sessions during the day and then even more so by dancing at work.

Just be smart about your choices. Sorry to say it, but repeated trips to Taco Bell and Jack in the Box at 3am will indeed make you fat.

No Taco Bell or Jack in the Crack for me but I have to eat after work and some girls I work with insist that this could be why I have been having trouble shedding pounds easily. I just had some raw sugar snap peas and like 2oz of lean ground beef. That won't make a person gain weight ...right???!!!!

It doesn't matter when you eat. The myth about eating after a certain time at night is false. What matters is how much you eat and what you eat. Just eat a small snack. What you said about the snap peas and beef is just fine. Add alot of water to that.

You could not be losing weight because you're replacing it with muscle. And you also haven't told us what you eat normally during the day.

The best way is to eat a big breakfast, and then many smaller meals during the day. For example, when you eat a sandwich and chips, save half of it to eat an hour later. That way you spread everything out and give your body a chance to burn it instead of storing it.

Also if you drink only water and cut out any other drink (that includes diet drinks and alcohol), you will drop 5lbs alone on that.

Yeah, your metabolism does change. It starts to slow down after you hit 21 and then you really feel the slow down the closer you get to 30. However, if you keep up the cardio and strength training you can raise your metabolism. I'm in better shape now than I was when I was much younger.

That's your nemesis. So many people tend to forget calories don't count in liquid form. Myself, I also like to drink alcohol at work but I generally stick to wine. With wine it is easier to guesstimate how many calories I am consuming. I can then try to balance it out with both diet and exercise either prior to work or the following day.

I drink either wine or tequila. I think alcohol slows the metabolism and makes you hold water. When I am not working and thus not drinking, it does seem to be easier to drop the lbs....Sucks getting old. When I was younger, if I gained a few lbs,I swear a few days of decent cardio and I was right back where I started..It's easier now to put on weight but harder to take it off! And now I can't just eat whatever and be thin...I have to work at it...Boo.

    Sad Re: Eating after work

you have to eat after work if your body asks for it. 8 hrs of work can kill you of water and vitamins.

I'm a big fan of "eat when you're hungry." Your body tells you it's hungry because it needs fuel to run; you wouldn't keep driving and driving with the empty light on in your car, would you?

Are you eating dinner at work? You should. It doesn't have to be a huge fatty meal, but you definitely should be having a meal of some sort if you're working a full shift. Usually around here, there's a dip in business around 2 a.m., which is a good time to take a 20-minute break for a sandwich and fruit or something. Then you've got another few hours to burn it off, and then have a piece of cheese or another healthy fat when you get home to help you sleep. (Adjust to your own working hours.)

I eat a thing of light yoplait yogurt about an hour before work is over. Or 2 hours before work is over I have an oatmeal packet instead. By the time I get home Im not hungry and if I am I chug a bunch of water so that it fills me up.

If Im working I really try to eat healthy foods because I know I'll last longer than if I ate something greasy n gross.

Forget about the healthy snack after work. I'm eatin' four buttermilk waffles with loads of butter and syrup. I always eat before I go to bed and it's generally breakfast food. Everybody's body is different. For me, if I didn't eat a large amount of bread throughout the day I'd be skinny as a rail. It's not necessary for me to count calories and eating before I go to bed does nothing more than satisfy my hunger. I try to drink as much water as possible at work and I snack whenever my body craves carbs.

I've only read the OP -- I tend to eat after work before bed as well. I also cannot sleep on an "empty" stomach as such. I'm still hungry in the morning just not starving. When I eat something after work I try to make it a small meal (sandwich or a couple of rice cakes or snack on various unsalted nuts) that is healthy (as such).... no junk food!!!!

The only way I gain weight is not thru that "habit".. it is through being stress-ed out and/or being too sedantry. I find (for whatever reason) I tend to burn the food up during my sleep anyway...

lol that would me also IF they didn't stop serving burgers at 3am. Maybe it's just me but if I wanted breakfast after leaving a nightclub I'd just go to Denny's.
