Default Naturally Thin or Work at it?

    Ok mini-rant.

I am SO tired of the girls who say they are naturally thin when in truth, they do something to get that way. I know that some people (and its rare) have naturally fast metabolisms but that's not the common thing.

I go out with girls or see girls who claim to be "naturally thin" but when we go out to eat or something, they barely eat enough to feed a toddler! I'm like, hello, you're not naturally thin, you're on a diet! And its not the case of eating several small meals a day either, that I could understand and have seen. Or I see them hoofing it at a gym putting down serious cardio time. Naturally thin?? You diet and excercise like the rest of us!

Why can't we just be proud of the fact that we work hard to get the bodies we have instead of pretending nature gave it to us?

I have to say it doesn't upset me as much as someone who says they're naturally thin but barely eats anything. I worry about them because they're deluding themselves and it can't be healthy.

maybe they naturally have small appetites?

me, I'm neither. But I'm thin for my family (we're a "big" family), so I'm fighting genetics with my diet and exercise habits.

All through school i could live on junk food and not gain an ounce. I was very thin. I hated it. Today i have to move this body or i will gain weight in a day. But i am in my 40's so that may make a huge difference, some say it does, others say it does not. I think i move more now than when i was younger.

Guess our bodies do slow with time. 20 yrs back i hated my body. Today i love it, i actually have tits now.

Guess i was a naturally thin girl in my 20's too, but i danced. Ate tons as well though. Today i no longer dance, sit on my ass for work and need to tone ALOT more...makes sense.

I have to work at it ! I know girls like that.So annoying. One girl I know swear she eats constantly and can't gain weight no matter how hard she tries. She also smokes like a chimney and I found phentermine in her bag one day when she told me to grab her a tampon. I have never seen her put anything in her mouth except cigs ......

Everyone in the biz has their thing what thye do to maintain. I eat very little, do casrdio, eat organic and get lipo.
I have a steady diet of lipo, if you consider that a diet and I do. Liopo id more about giving you shape not a diet...

I'm like Emily- genetically, my family has curvy ladies. So I watch it, but without starvation I could never be really really thin.

But I do agree that some women have naturally small appetites. A friend of mine is small, not really really skinny but very petite...and she just doesn't eat very much. She never has. I've known her since we were twelve, and she'd never been a big eater. I don't think it's a conscious thing either, since she doesn't seem to care much about her weight (like I'm neurotic about mine, and she'll look at me uncomprehending because she's never given a second thought to hers). I wish I were like that, but I get so very hungry. I can't have a banana for breakfast and then nothing until "a small dinner" in the evening like she does. And she does fine with that...and she never excercises. Who knows.

    Touchy subject for me.......

I take very good care of myself, and I actually weight about 15lbs more than when I first started dancing. I am still fairly small but I have much more muscle tone. Anyway, if I decide to bring tuna and salad for lunch one day why do people feel the need to make comments? I'll have people come up to me and say "oh that's why you look the way you do, why don't you have a burger?" It just frustrates me because people should be praising that I'm not stuffing myself with junk, I mean since when is eating clean a bad thing? For me, I make sure I eat nutrient rich food and I eat many meals that are small portions. This doesn't mean that I'm anorexic, it means that I am fueling my body with good energy.

I am naturally thin but not naturally muscular/toned. The way I eat (and exercise) keeps muscle on my body and if I didn't eat this way I would be thinner and softer.

Naturally thin or work at it? I'm neither, but I do have a lean, muscular build. I get attitude all the time from girls at work about how I maintain my physique. But don't look at me as the ideal, everybody's body fuels food differently. I've found out what works best for me and as a result, I eat several mini meals throughout the day instead of two large meals in a day. I have cut out beef, pork, pop, potato chips, tomato-based products, dairy products, and rarely eat foods cooked in grease. I used to be 25 pounds heavier than I am now, but I don't miss the weight. I was always muscular, but now I'm alot slimmer. I don't consider myself a skinny girl because I have an athletic build, but alot of customers may group me in that category. I say, as long as you're healthy and feel great -- do what you do. I will...

I'm naturally thin, but not super skinny. Without excercise in over a year, I'm still around 115-120 at 5'4. Now..naturally toned, definately not! It won't last though. I am built like my dad's side. Everyone is naturally thin, but grow big ole Ukrainian pot bellies when they get older. The clock is ticking away, lol.....

I'm naturaly a big girl. I have a fairly tall family and women are very curvy, i guess eating healthily with mod. exercise i'd be a natural size 14, i have to work my ass off to be a size 10-12. I don't think i'll ever get any smaller without going to the gym several hours everyday.

Naturally thin, but I have to work to be toned I am 5'7 and weigh 125lbs, but without exercise I have a huge butt and hips, and really need to get to the gym to make that go away.I have a small appitite, but I eat, and its nto very healthy. A lot of fast food, pizza 3-4 times a week. Im not the kind of person who carries extra weight well. If I got an extra 10 lbs, I look chunky. That being said, I really should work out more......

Im like Pam. I used to have a superfast metabolism, and no matter what I ate I stayed REALLY thin. Plus I was put on prescription drugs for my migraines that made me lose even more weight. I'd outeat most males though, so I ate plenty!

It seems this year since I've turned 21 it has slowed down and I gained 40 pounds. Now I'm at the weight Im supposed to be at for my height

You have made me think about this...

I have always considered myself naturally thin but now when I consider it, I guess I am just naturally have a small appetite and a propensity to do a lot of activity during the day. I don't watch tv, I get up and clean the house, play with my pets, fidget, dance in front of the mirror, etc during the day without a second thought. I have always walked and taken the stairs when its an option. I don't do this stuff for weight management, it's just what I've always liked to do!

Similarly, I have always loved eating healthy because that is pretty much all my parents served (my dad is diabetic)

Here's another thing to take into consideration. I have always been active when I was younger, dancing, sports, etc. Now I'm not. Do you think that a person who was active and in great shape will have a better metabolism than someone who has always been sedentary, and have more leeway for a while? Because with the way I eat, I should weigh 170 lb!

    Its really scientific, lol!

I guess its because I eat pretty healthy and I do indeed love food. And I worry that those of my friends who don't eat a reasonable meal have eating disorders. I'm talking reasonable meal here.

I do get annoyed when people tell me to eat a burger when I'm having a turkey sandwich with all the trimmings, but its not the same as someone who just drank a tiny cup of broth and is "full". And btw, she is not petite. I'm smaller than her.

Ah, see I would just consider you to be a healthy eater and an active person. You have some great habits that I really hope I can get myself!

I'm considered 'thin' by a lot of people, but I'm not 'thin' in my mind. Case in point that those same people tell me how great I look when I'm at my ideal weight, which is 7ish pounds less than now. For where I am right now, I don't work at it. This is me. And believe me, I have a HUGE appetite.

But when I go on a diet and excercise and am where I like to be? Controlled diet, lot's of work. If I slip up even for a few days, it's very noticable. I don't have a (big) isue with my natural weight, and many people tell me they wish they were so lucky. But when I'm as 'thin' as I like to be, and prefer myself to be, it's so much freaking work.

    Whoa! Me too, almost word-for-word...

My body has some weird mechanism or something that keeps me where I am now (131-ish, 5'9''). Getting any lower than 128 take constant activity and very little, simple food. Getting past 132 is tough unless I'm on vacation pigging out with family or something. When I went to Iowa for thanksgiving for 10 days I was eating three servings of 3-4 meals a day, and not moving an inch, so I got up to 138, but slightly less than a week back at home in my normal routine I'm 132. I bet $10 I'll be at 130 in a few more days.

Kind of nice, I have to admit, but I do look phenomenal when I'm 123 lbs of all thigh muscle.

me too. genetics gave me hips and an ass, and a body that gains weight if i even look at food. short of starvation or a drug habit, i'll never be a small girl.

i do know a lot of girls who are naturally thin though. they annoy me more than girls who work for it... even though it's not their fault, i'm still jealous as hell. i have a lot of friends who live on junk food and do no exercise at all but still stay naturally very slim. bitches heh.

Not everyone's lying about being naturally thin.
Im naturally thin. Ive been the same height, weight and size since 1982 (Between 42-45 kg somewhere just under 100 pounds I think). I havent always liked being thin, but I just dont gain weight no matter how much I eat or how little I exercise so I learnt to like it. I do love food, I eat ALOT, people often cant believe how much food I can stack away. I dont have to worry about what I eat or drink cos I just stay the same size.
In my teens at one stage I quite happily ate 5 cheesecakes a day between meals and didnt gain an ounce. I am more health concious these days (-:

    Dont hate me Darcy!

My legs are my genetic betrayal. They will always be big, but I can change whether they're big and cellulite-y or big and muscle-y. I have hypothyroidism, so my metabolism runs reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally slow. I guess I'm naturally fat, but fighting it every inch of the way with diet and weight training.

There's a girl at my club who must be 90 pounds soaking wet who could swim through a lake of McDonald's and not gain an ounce. I want to hate her, but what I really want is to steal her metabolism for the holiday season so I can eat everything!!!

Yeah, I will never be slim. Even at my lowest weight (95lbs), I have got hips, an ass, and boobs. which btw is really strange on a tiny asian girl since most my friends who are asian are pretty slim from top to bottom. I guess now in this world of sexy curvy women, that is definitely a good thing. I know I'll never have to get breast or butt augmentation.

and btw Darcy, you're beautiful! the hips and ass give you a sexy curve.
