    Default Jitters

    Hey girls,
I've been dancing for about a month, but I'm still having some problems. Sometimes, I just can't get over my nervousness! I love dancing, in the strip club and otherwise, but sometimes I do a worse job than I could do because I'm scared. I'm only 20 so I can't drink to get over this feeling. What do you guys do to get over your nerves?? Will this go away after I've been working for awhile?

What part makes you nervous...is it the stage, talking to customers and/or giving dances etc?

Dont drink to get over the feeling b/c youll find yourself needing it as it becomes a crutch for you to get through the night. Just so you know I was nervous for about a month as my legs shook up on stage every time, squeeking talking to customers and odd silences.

it'll get better in a few months. pretty soon it'll feel just like walking. of course we all get nervous again from time to time if the crowd is bigger than normal or someone special is in the crowd... etc.

I'm pretty much nervous about all of it, but mainly about trying new things on the stage and being comfortable and friendly with customers. I think its the kind of thing that I will get over as I get more used to the job. I've been lucky enough to have started working in a club with extremely nice girls and understanding managers and barstaff. I'm just wondering if there is something I can do to get over these jitters faster. Thanks for your help!

What started to help me was really playing the part that I was a stripper. I basically created this other self that I let come out and have fun and get all the money kinda of character. I had problems with rejection but now I know they arent turning me down theyre turning down someone else.

Also, have a plan for the night. Start off by saying I'll talk to x amount of customers. Just introduce yourself stay for a song and move on. Repeat for a few guys. Start off at first guy again sit down, talk for a song then ask for a dance. Everytime you're adding a bit more into the equation. Soon it'll feel like clockwork.

I still suffer a mild case of jitters whenever I start at a new club or go back to one I havn't been to in awhile, and I've been dancing 4 years! When I first started it took a few months, now it may last a night. Once I start racking up dances the jitters soon leave The more you work the easier it becomes.

Haha! I have been dancing for about 3 years and sometimes I get nervous. It makes you human! Don't start drinking to overcome that nervousness-that is NOT the answer. Try tuning it all out... You will eventually get used to it and it will pass. If you're worried about messing up or doing a move wrong, remember. YOU are the only one who knows if you fucked up. We are our own worst critics. Just have fun with it and try to be confident; that's whats sexy.

As a customer of strip clubs for a number of years, I must say I've never noticed a dancer nervous onstage. So just know that even if you are nervous, we're too mesmerized to tell anyway. Sometimes the customers are probably more nervous than you are!

Poor girl, My knees shook for at least four months when I first started dancing, and to be honest, I still get the sweaty palms and the urge to pee every time I have to go on stage.....

Do they notice? Nope....just keep going and smile...smile...smile

    Good Luck!

When I started, listening to upbeat music on the drive over helped a lot. I would think about how good I would look on stage and about money I would make... then, and this was about a month into it, I realized that I didnt need to do that anymore.

Just try to think of something else. You'll freak yourself out thinking about how nervous you are.

When I started I would get really nervous, I was always scared I would do something stupid, but I figured out that they guys don't know either way. The only time they seem to notice is if you are waaaay wasted and fall off the stage or something like that, otherwise they have no idea.

Each week when I go to a new club, my first show makes me so nervous I want to puke. I bury that feeling as far down as I can and get my butt on the stage and do what I have to do. By the time the first song is halfway over I'm all better.

It does get easier, and like Raven said, drinking is not the solution to getting over the nerves. I've seen the need to have to drink to be able to work not work out so well. A drink now and then, yeah, but know when to say when.
