I wanna learn too. A few of the clubs I have gone to would have let me do it, but most won't. I like fire shows, they're pretty, so why not learn and do it when I can?

Jeeze... I only know how to light my boobs on fire and "eat" it. My friend taught me but the club I work at now won't allow it so it doesn't do me any good. I've never worked with torches. Anyone got any videos of the torches?

    Thats hot !!

It depends where you work and what your using.

When I work in Ontario im allowed to use my wands, but no fire pots or any sort of pyro(flash paper, gun powder etc). My fire has to stay to my wands and wands only. Im not allowed to do fire blowing either.

When I work in Manitoba its allowed, and parts of Alberta. I want to get my pyro license so I can use it anywhere but its so damn expencive lol.

Psst.. you should be slapped for leaving your hair down and eating fire LoL sorry paranoia of mine ahaha..

Permits are a lot of paperwork here in Las Vegas.
Each show I do I have to apply for permits.
I perform a demo for the fire inspector. Supply my own insurance, pay for the permit and so much more. But it is all worth it to help insure safety.

I would say take lessons from someone who knows how to do it, and then keep this book on hand:

Oh yeah! This is what I would like to learn for sure, the whole taking the torch and sliding it over your body while there is a hint of blue flame trailing behind. Eating fire will definately come next! I know my home club will allow it, no problem.

Cally, I worked in Toronto only for the summer while I stayed with my favorite homo...my brother John. Otherwise I am from Sarnia (west of London). Now that I am on holidays for a couple of weeks, I may come back to Toronto pending my bro hasn't taken off to spend his holidays with his boyfriend!LOL!

And Alena...I will definately PM you about those classes...just need a web cam!

    Thanks chickies!!

When I was doing it a lot in the early 90s, nobody knew any better than to let me do it LOL they never stopped me from doing anything at all.

I learned from a circus artist and another dancer. I always wore leather so I could run it over any part of my body; one of my friends burned herself really badly when she slipped and set her lycra costume on fire.

HAHA..when I started (before the seminar I took), they would let me do anything...but at that time I was also allowed to light my entire body on fire for 8 seconds.

After I took the fire course, I smartened up...no one could believe that I would willingly set my entire body...neck down...on fire, and then have 2 guys from the audience put me out with extinguishers!

NOT A SMART THING TO DO!

I have been doing correct procedure fire shows for over 12 years..the first 2 things taught is ...

    1. Naked or wet clothing

    2. ALWASY have your hair tied back!

I have had 2 accidents in my entire career, one I lost my facial hair (thank god for eyebrow pencils and false eyelashes!!). The second time, I found out that you CANNOT have adrink within 4 hrs of a fire show. The alcohol you drink is absorbed into the mucous tissue in your mouth...blow fire within 4 hrs of a drink...and light your mouth on fire GOOD!! I couldnt eat for 2 days cause of the blisters!

I am now professional trained in Wands, Poi, Devil Sticks, Cage Chains, and Open Flame Exhibits!

Permits in Canada are rather easy to obtain..you just need to contact the local Fire Marshall and have them view a demo! Here in Edmonton...if a girl has taken my class is, they state my course and the permit is issued upon verification with me! I know the Fire Marshalls here personally.

Rarely do they require a demo if they have my certification.

Please please please be very careful. I've been in some SC's where I kept one eye on the exits at all times 'cause the place just wasn't safe.

It's scary. Think of The Station nightclub fire in RI a couple years ago. One hundred souls gone and many more severely burned.

My recommendation is that you do not do fire acts in venues that are not sprinklered. There is a reason for all the permits and such. They exist to prevent a catastrophe.

If something bad does happen, you girls head for the nearest exit immediately and fast! Do NOT linger, get the phuck out asap! A fire is a very bad place to be if you're naked - or nearly so. It's bad enough when you're wearing 40# of firefighting gear and breathing apparatus.

A buddy of mine was first in on a fire in a strip bar in DC years ago. A couple custy's who got kicked out went to the gas station next door, cut and drained the gas pump hoses into a KFC bucket and threw it in the front door of the club followed by a match. It was bad. Lots of burn injuries.

Sorry to pee on your fire show, but conscience dictated I say something.

^^^ This is why we're safe about our fire shows.

I use 70% isopropal(think I can spell it? LoL) with a tiny amount of 99% to help it burn longer. My wands soak in the alcohol for a couple of hours before using, when I take them out I knock them to get rid of the excess liquid I light them away from any materials, I am naked with my hair pulled back when I do my shows and I keep a close eye on my wands at all times. I no longer use fire pots because 1) i've heard horror stories of them knocking over and 2) most clubs wont allow them to be used.

I always inform a DJ and bar staff and manager before doing a fire show, most places have an extenguisher(ugh I cant spell) close to the stage when I do my show. Thankfully my wands are very easy to blow out so I can keep them under control.

As long as your smart about how you use your fire show its fairly safe.

I had a friend that did fire and she always had an assitant standing by with something to put out the fire and help her with her props.

She did this stuff with spinning fire on a chain and she practiced it with tennis balls first outside.

I used to always set my boots on fire--because I was in leather I could run the fire straight across my crotch, and I would lay on my back with my legs open and do the trail of fire thing from toe to toe, and the fire would linger more on the leather than on my skin so Id have flaming boots and a flaming crotch for a few seconds. Honestly, I wouldnt do it now!

I always liked the idea of having a guy from the audience hold the extinguisher, it was part of the staging. Give a guy a fire hat and an extinguisher and hope he doesnt put you out for no reason! But the real security was the "wet blanket."

    ^^^^ It's isopropyl.

I'd love to see a fire show and fire spinning - I've only seen it on video, and never in the nude. Hot in more ways than one.

I'm glad that you're careful and take precautions. Just keep that working fire extinguisher nearby. CO2 or Pressurized water.

The greater hazard is probably pyrotechnics, but the greatest hazard of all is a club that is not fire-safe. Watch out for locked or blocked exit doors, flammable wallcoverings and decorations, poorly or unmarked exits, obstructions to the exits and lack of a sprinkler system.

And - if any of you need a "safety man", I have impeccable credentials and all the necessary equipment.
