I had to get 2 veneers because I have 2 front teeth that are really small. They cost i think a total of about $1000. It wasn't a bad experience or anything, but they only last about 5-10 years and damn they're expensive!

I also have a question about veneers, if anyone who knows decides to pop in here. Do they all make your chompers bigger, ala Hilary Duff?

I have them and they were really expensive. Almost 20,000 for 6 on the top, and 6 on the bottom. I love them though. They look really natural. I've never had anybody guess that they're veeners, but I always get complimented on my 'beautiful smile' and have people tell me I have nice teeth often. I recommend getting them in the whitest shade possible because they will stain a little over time. I've had mine for a year now and my teeth are still super white but I'm very militant about brushing & flossing after every meal.

Your dentist will probably try to talk you out of getting the whitest shade-mine did- but I'm glad I went with the shade I did because it works really well with my pale skin and dark hair.

Do your research well and find a good cosmetic dentist because you don't want to end up with unnatural looking teeth, or poor quality ones.

Feel free to ask me any other questions.

Emily knows a lot about Veeners so you might want to PM her. She was really helpful when I got mine.

Oh, I'm in major debt now because I got them and then had to quit dancing really soon afterwords, so I currently get like 10 calls a day from carecredit. I will hopefully get that bill paid off eventually, but for now my credit is a disaster because of it.

Mine were around 1,200 per tooth. But I also had 7 cavaties I had to get filled (also with porcelain), plus the cost of X-Rays, impressions, cleanings, ect...

You can get them cheaper but I don't know if the quality of the porcelain will be as good . You don't want to get cheap one's that will only last 10 years. Some have to be replaced eventually (I hope to god mine don't because there is NO WAY I could afford that)
So make sure you choose your doctor very wisely....

Also, My doctor and I went over the exact shape and size of each tooth like 20 times.
They turned out exactly like I hoped aside for the fact that I wanted my canines a bit longer, but he couldn't because they would have scrapped against my bottom teeth if they were any longer and chipped or broke.

I'm really happy with how they turned out though so I'm glad my dentist was such a perfectionist and so thorough about making sure the size and shape of the teeth would fit the rest of my face and features.

Oh yeah, My denist also made my two front teeth slightly thicker to make my top lip look fuller (veeners are VERY, VERY thin so they're not bulky)

I got them. This was 3 years ago and they were $1250 per tooth. I got the top ten done.....so $12,500. Then I got some cavities and root canals done too. Including that, it's been over $20,000 for me too, easy.

I've written a lot about these so do a search on my posts.

I'm glad I could help you Magdalena!

as for hilary duff....I think she was trying to make her teeth longer to make her look more grown up. She had cute teeth before. I wouldn't have gotten them if I looked like her. You are permanently removing enamel from your teeth. It's a big deal! I've had a few issues with my veneers. My bite is somewhat misaligned and I think I grind at night. Two have already broken. The dentist fixed them for free, but going to the dentist is not exactly on my list of top 10 things I like to do with my day.

Anyway, don't take this lightly, and I'm not talking about the money. Only get them if your teeth are really jacked up,.

too old? most of the people that get veneers are older since they are the ones that can afford them

I know what you mean about knowing how to smile to hide your teeth. I hated my teeth so much and now that I got them fixed, I'm constantly smiling...and getting compliments on my beautiful smile.

Zabrina- they shave down your real teeth before attaching the veneers, so they don't get bigger.

As per cost... my dentist charges 1200 a tooth. My mom went to one of her customers who is a dentist (my mom's a fashion designer, btw) and she only charged my mom 700 a tooth.

So yeah... super expensive. I want to get some of my top teeth done- 8. Yeah... maybe one day...

They can get bigger though a la Gary Busey. his look like chicklets. Some dentists are afraid of prepping too much enamel off or the porcelain is too thick.

I think what Zabrina was talking about is that Hilary Duff's teeth are longer, so they look bigger. She did have smallish teeth to begin with (which I thought were cute.)

You seem awfully young for veneers. If your top teeth are straight and well-formed, try bleaching (with a dentist, who will make you customized trays and provide you with bleaching solution). The change will be dramatic and a LOT less expensive than veneers.

If your lower teeth are crooked or malformed, then transparent braces on your lower teeth may be a better solution at your age. You can keep all your natural teeth and once your occlusion is fixed, you can work on bleaching them up to near perfect whiteness.

Although veneers are expensive, they are a LOT cheaper than malliofacial surgery, where they open up your maxillary and mandibular bones to cut out excess bone structure and reshape the way your teeth fit into your face. They also wire your mouth shut for several weeks. Talk about perfectionism. Oral surgeons are generally insane, but they can work miracles. If you combine it with orthdontics, some periodontal surgery and a ton of bleaching, you will have the most amazing smile.

When my sisters saw me after all my oral and plastic surgery, they thought I looked pretty amazing, but they never stopped teasing me. They would always say, pointing to my eyes, "well, at least we recognize you here."

Why don't you guys try lumineers? They don't harm the enamel, and they aren't permanent either..So if you decide to remove them a few years down the road, you're teeth will still be fine. Plus, I think they're cheaper.

some people aren't candidates for lumineers, and they do shave some enamel off.
