What are your interests? Or is there some kind of cause that you are passionate about? Some of the places I've donated before are in my sig, but I also like the National Down Syndrome Society, b/c someone close to me has a relative with Down Syndrome and that organization is wonderful. There's org's for everything out there, so I'd start with something you are interested in or care about.

I donate to Cuddles for Shelter Animals... a charity designed to give blankets and toys to animals forced to be in shelters.

We try to donate to organizations with lower admin costs and provide more direct aid for the dollars received. Additionally, we look for things that appeal to our sensibilities or sentiments.

We don't do extensive research and audits into these concerns. We just try to keep our eyes open, and if we read something negative, we don't mind switching out our contributions to something else.

    Local food bank.
    Direct Relief International.
    American Cancer Society.
    St. Jude's.
    Local museum.
Some Feed-The-Poor things that appear to do well.

    Stuff like that.

I donate to local shelters, bring food over to Market ministries, donate clothing, etc.. However, my dad does that feed a kid in another country for seventy cents a day thing There are legitimate companies that put almost all of what you give them to the child. There was an article in newsweek or something showing like the top 25 companies and where your money goes. My dads working on his third adopted child right now, lol!! I think he may adopt a whole village in the Dominican

check every charity you donate to with the IRS - they shoudl be registered as 501 - series (C3 is most common, but some are C4, C5 or other things). Guidestar.org is a great way to find out more about charities., look at their 990 form to see how they spend their money, etc - and check with the charities' home state office of Secretary of State, Bureau of Charitable organizations for more indepth info on them

mostly, find a charity that does good work in an area you care about...

I've covered this on my myspace page as well as in other threads. I donate monthly (automatic debit out of my bank account) to Wildlife Warriors and World Wildlife Fund. I want to also do something for/with the AWL of QLD since this is where Bibs was originally purchased (as such) by my mother (she looked up my mother's dress and that is why she picked her).

I used to donate to other charities however I these are my chosen ones.
