...work in a club that is primarily (or solely) stage dancing? if it meant taking a pay cut, but not having to deal with so much hustling and BS and guys trying to whip it out and grope you during LDs?

I'm thinking about it for when I do London--working in a strip pub, where suppsedly it's mostly stage. i feel like it might be worth making less/having to work more in exchange for not having to put up with all the bull that comes with relying on LDs for 99% of my income (and the gowns...ugh, I hate gowns.) I'm great on the pole, I put on fantastic shows, I love performing onstage, and maybe this way I'll get out of my dancing career without complete contempt and disgust for men. (I really don't want to be that way, but it's hard when your living is basically in their fickle hands and some of them have the attitudes that they do.)

On the other hand, I'm used to hustling my ass off and coming home with $500-800 a night and only having to work 3 nights a week...maybe the pay cut isn't worth it after all, and I should suck it up and go where the most money is. I don't plan to dance after I'm done school anyway (although, famous last words! )

What would you choose? mostly stage and less earning potential, or mostly LDs/table dances and the potential to make more?

I guess it depends on *how much less* $$ there is...

Well, I'm in a unique situation...my home city is primarily about stage dancing, and I spent my first few years dancing doing mainly stage (private shows only if asked). This nets about $150-200/night- definitely a living wage, low psychological stress, and you never run out of stage work here. Also lots of time for homework/errands between shows.

However, once I travelled to lapdance clubs in the states and got a taste of $800+ nights, there was no going back, really...I don't work in local clubs that don't have private shows anymore, I consider it a waste of my time. Locally, I average $400-500 a night (stage shows + private dances), while the stage-only girls make $150-ish. I understand why they don't want to do the private shows- it's not always that fun- but then get frustrated when they're bitching about money, or about how thye're burnt out from working every week. If they did private shows they could work half as often and still earn more!

So, long story short, no way I'd do stage only. But, also no way I'd do laps only. I like both so much! I'm glad I get to do both.

this is a dilema as Scarlett said gilrs who do only stage get burn out by not making as much..(150$ a night that is low)
But on the other hand there can be burn out from private shows as well. What ussually leads towards the psychological burn out where you need to take days off from work or having bad month at work or others...
If i would make every night between 200-300$(and this would be guarantee everynight by the club as an income)
JUST from shows in ONE regular club (without traveling) I would choose the SHOWS.. for sure. over the 800$ night because in long run it will balance itself.

    shows are always more fun

I have a question. Maybe I'm not catching on since you are in Canada. Is this kinda like dancing just on stage with men tipping you through glass?

I would give it a shot if I knew how to put on a great stage show. I haven't gotten there yet....

No...it's more like feature dancing, except it's what everyone does here. Like the olden days, lol.

We get paid $xx for each show, paid by the club but contracted through an agency, scheduled for 3(ish) shows a night. 18 minute shows. So you go on stage at a set time, do the show, then you're done until your next show. No glass, lol.

It's so hard to explain...I nearly had a conniption tonight trying to explain to some American tourists why the girls wer on stage for so long, and why there were only 5 of us...it's just different up here!

Yes, but there are 5 features at once (or in a row, I should say), and few (or no) private dancers. So customers go to drink beer and watch shows...they're not usually thinking about lapdances unless they're tourists. It's all changing though, 10 more years and I don't think we'll be getting paid any more.

Can you vary things and work maybe one night a week at a stage club and the rest of your shifts at a gown club? I've worked at a couple of dancing only clubs (as in, getting private dances is always a pleasant surprise for you and one tends to be all sweaty anyway and wanting to drink water and relax in between sets) and it's definitely more fun and interesting than working in a gown club but the money is pretty bare -- if guys aren'tcoming in they aren't coming in and the ones that are there don't want to be hustled. But hey, it's also the intense carido exercise you really need and it's lots of music chosen by yourself...

This could be reasonable. Less stress to put up with night after night cause you'll get a change, with the few nights a week with a much higher earning potential.

Keep in mind though, with the London strip pubs, you'll still be hustling the floor for tips to pay for your stage shows...I anticipate there would be similar frustrations as hustling for lap dances.

I think it depends on where you live.

I am in NYC right now, and there's no WAY I could make enough money to support myself off of the stages alone. Plus, as far as I know, most ALL the clubs here are lapdances and private rooms. So, all of your money is made on the floor (or in privacy = sketchy). Mostly in funny money, which is taxable.

NOW, when I lived in D.C., the club I worked at was stagework only, and you only worked 10 minutes out of the hour. But you would come home with $200 (low) - $600 (high). Some nights you'd clear more than that, assuming you had a really good customer. I'd say the average there was around $350 a night. No tip outs. All cash.
Also, living in or outside of DC is WAY cheaper than NYC.

If I had a choice between the two, I'd 110% choose the DC club. Because there weren't tip outs, no dj, no house fee, no greedy floor hosts/bouncers, no private rooms, no funny money-
Well, you can imagine that the work environment was COMPLETELY stress free, and everyone really did seem to get along with one another. I loved it.

    And it's all relative-
In NYC your living expenses are outrageous, so you come home with $800-$1500 per night.
In DC your living expenses are low, so you come home with $200-$600.

I'd much rather not have to deal with NYC Strip Club B.S. and enjoy my work.

    *sigh.....*
    But I live in NYC....

I do choose the stage only (or stage mostly) clubs. I have no problem giving lap dances, but I don't like my income dependant on getting enough dances to cover fees and tip outs.

I have found that stage focused clubs *usually* have lower house fees and tip outs. So I can hustle to get customers up to the rack instead of hustling to get customers to buy dances at $25 per song.

(The club I just started at this week has house fees of $5, $7 and $10 depending on which shift on what day of the week you work. Sundays are free)

Ditto. That's the way it works for the majority of clubs around here. Mostly stage and you do dances in between your stage time, but they are only a supplement to your stage shows.

Definitely less money, but also doable if you get the right places.

The thing is in the better strip pubs like Browns and the White Horse the management insists that it's £1 minimum per show so the annoying hustle factor is far far less. At Browns they do private dances as well but as the entrance is free, beer cheap etc it's generally busy and so with a max of 10 girls per shift and maybe 150 customers on busy nights you don't have to hustle so hard.

The White Horse { my favourite} has no table dancing at all and a max of 5 girls per shift. Shifts last around 4 hours and I'm told you make £100 to maybe £250 ashift, house fee is £10. As you are only on stage once every 50 minutes or so there is time to talk and so the customers and girls are generally very friendly. Most girls I know love working here but you only get maybe 2 shifts a week and getting a job there in the first place is difficult.

Loved the stage!!!! Danced with a huge Burmese Python at times. Made for good money. But learned i needed more, and hit the floors too. If i had my choice to stage dance only and big the best earner in the club i would!

Other then that i danced with much competetion. Did fine. Wanted more. I did my own thing and sad for me they wanted me off the stage which i could not avoid at the time.

Stage dancing rocks if you have great 'themes'. Keep it fresh, with a bit of 'shock' for the guys. Wigs, costumes etc. have many different looks, it can work but you have to be in a club that is good for stage shows, many are not i see.

I would do it if i was bringing home at least $200 a night. That would be worth it for me, nothing less

i worked in a club that was ALL stages no LDs. The money is considerably lower. Now I work in a regular strip club.

I gotta say I like the regular one better. Not just cuz of the money, but because working the stage all night was taking a toll on my feet. It is more work.

I would choose more money, so doing dances.

I might as well be a bartender or waitress if the max I can realistically make is 200-300.

Yes, the trouble is with the lap dancing places in the UK at least is that they all feel to me like sitting in a dark room, paying a fortune for drinks, being harrassed by dozens of girls { often pretty average} desperate to make back their house fee, where stage shows consist of bored looking girls moving around the pole like a sloth on valium, you have to tip to have a pee or hang your coat up, and if a girl does speak to you the conversation gets to " do you want a dance " within about 10 seconds. I love the White Horse where the girls are normally cheerful and chatty and the stage shows are great { I've been going there for 25 years now}but have not found a " club" I'd want to go in twice yet.
