I like Sylvia Browne. I dont know how "gifted" she is, but she has some interesting ideas on things...she is definately cooler than that other dildo who does similiar shit...whats his name? The crossing over guy? The south park episode where they made fun of him was funny as fuck, I think he is bullshit. Sylvia seems to be pretty right on most of the time, and she doesnt use the stupid technique the other guy does.

Just because she's psychic, doesn't mean she's going to be 100% all the time. And the drowning thisng could make sense from water pipes busting and filling parts of the tower...he could have been trapped faced down in a puddle....it happens. Oh well, he's dead...if he was a fireman during Sept 11th....he's not missing, he DEAD, were's the mystery in that? Some people ask the stupidest questions to the most obvious answers.

Oh and that Crossing Over guy is John Edwards...yeah, what a wanker.

Whether she's full of shit or not doesn't matter to our family. After reading one of her books, my mom was able to find some inner peace and come to terms with my stepdad's sudden and unexpected death. And if Sylvia Browne can help greiving people in that manner, what really is the harm?

the harm is she gives people false hope.

Exactly! I'm glad your family found peace LSM, but I think that Ol' Syl is very exploitive/exploitative (whichthephuckever, lol).

Gosh, did Montell run outta show ideas??

I love that her son just happens to be psychic and gives reading just like hers!

In grief, hope is what most people want - that their loved one is okay, not suffering, etc. Whether or not it's false, who cares? It brings comfort to people in their dark time.

I guess that's what most people want.

I prefer the truth, and YES, I have had people very close to me die, to include my mom. I'm not saying it isn't "right" to comfort people in their time of need, but IMHO, this ho is just a liar out to get paid!

In response to some of the above (re: but she gives hope!), taken from the Stop site:

    1. She is taking money, under false pretenses, from people who are in a very vulnerable position, emotionally.

    2. She constantly gives medical "diagnoses" to people (and in fact, she refers to these people as her "patients") without any medical training. This can obviously be dangerous, leading people to pursue incorrect diagnoses, and to possibly ignore the advice of their own medical professionals.

    3. She gives advice to families of missing children (and adults). Not only does this false information add to the trauma being suffered by the family (read about Opal Jo Jennings for just one example), but can lead those families to insist on law enforcement following up on these fictional "leads," wasting hours and manpower which could have been put to use following up on real leads.

    4. By inventing information about (and messages from) lost loved ones, she is stepping on the true memories of these people.
