    Angry Period Question?

I put this in Ladies only as I did not want 'everyone replying and veiwing it! Please move it if it is causing too much hassle!

I have not had my period for 6 weeks. My last period was in October 31st to the November 4th.

I have had 'spotting' in the mean time, however I have had several negative pregnancy tests :?:

My periods have been 100% normal since I got them (5 yrs ago)

I went to the doctor and he said there is nothing wrong with me and to go back in a weeks time if my period is not there.... well I went back with the same problem and still there is nothing they know of.

The doctor ruled out Cysts of all varieties as he said that I would feel stomach pain, however I have not had any stomach cramps at all, so I am still confused.

Basically the doctor said it is normal to have no period, however I fail to think this is right, with out a period, I am not ovulating (or could be pregnant) and either way, I need to have medical attention to fix or help with the issue.

I asked if I could be refered for a blood test or a ultra sound, but he said to come back in a few days if it is still late - but I did, and a new doctor said the same thing.

I havw not been on any medication and I am starting to stress out about my period coming/not coming.... It is not normal to be like this (I mean it does happen, but for a reason)

If some one can help me, I will appreciate it, I am very confused at present!

Could be due to stress...periods due all kind of wonky things if you are stressed out including pulling a vanishing act!

Sometimes, women can fail to ovulate that cycle, which would cause the lack of menstration this month, which is why the doctor said to wait, and come back in a few weeks if you still have not gotten it. If you skip another period, then I would start to wonder, and definatly ask for more tests to find the cause.
Also keep in mind, the more you stress about not having a period, the later it can be. Stress can do crazy things to the body, and can delay your period from comming.

The thing is I have not been stressed up until the last few days when I have gone to the doctors and I have been told 'come back in a weeks time'

I usually maintain a 'non stressed' life style as I dont really do that much to stress out!

    Now I am stressing

I always expect to miss a couple every year- but if you've been regular, it could be a sign. Stressing will definately screw things up. Have you lost weight recently? If I drop below 130, mine tend to stop. Are you seeing a male doctor?

This sounds like the crap that male doctors sometimes pull with women. You're not going to be able to relax until you know what's up so just go and get another opinion. Hope you get it soon.

Ok... I went for a blood test and I go back wednesday to find out if there is anything wrong including low iron levels etc...

The lady doctor I had today was fantastic, she really understood everything I was saying.... She prescribed some medication to help with my stomach pains thank god for good doctors... I told her about the guy doctor and she said dont worry about him, his a male, they dont under stand :>

I have noticed I have been really emotional the last 24 hours... maybe this is a sign of my period... though I have rarely suffered from PMS before.... ah well I will rather have PMS then have no period.... I am kinda lost with out it here

Are you underweight? It's not uncommon for women who are underweight or even just not taking in proper nutrition to lose their periods. Failing that, stress may be a problem. My personal experience, however, is that stress is unlikely to cause amenhorrea. My own periods of amenhorrea have been related to poor diet and excessive weight loss.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is also a possibility. You may need to be tested for this, if you haven't been already.

hehe... it feels weird discussing this on an open forum... but a girl just gotta have answers

Any way... you dont relise how much periods make you feel womanly (I am sounding weird now :S) but when you have then you wish they would go away, when you loose them, you want them back..

I live a fairly stressfree life, infact the last 10 - 12 months has been the best of my life

I am also normal body weight for my height... I checked this with my doctor (personal note to self... tone up a little - just for work purposes )

Any way, today hopefully I will have some answers but I was thinking, if it has been away for so long, will it be really heavy and awkward when I finally get it? Will i have triple PMS??

Fingers Crossed I will get an answer this week

It all depends. I've had dry spells and had normal periods and then had really heavy ones. The less you worry about getting your period though, (if things are normal- hope they are) the sooner it will come.

If you go to the gynie they are going to put you on the pill. Your hormones are screwed up. I didn't have my period for the 1st six months when I moved to NYC. It was scary and I always have normal rags. Like every 30-32 days.

unfortunantly I had to re-schedule my ultra sound to this tuesday @ 1:45 however if what you say is right sophiemarie is it possible to resolve it without going on the pill?

This is due to religious upbringings etc, and I would rather not go on the pill also due to the water retention and other complications of being on it!

    Thanks

I ddn't have a period for almost four months and my doc gave me progesterone (Ithink ) to bring on my period. I had the problem again a second time after that and we took the same course of action . I then opted to go on the pill and have been having regular periods that are lighter with less cramping.....and less stress. You mght want to gve it some thought.

Oh ..and one more thing, the pill I'm on is called Yaz and it has some kind of anti-bloating affect so I haven't noticed any water retention....but if you have religious concerns, it might not be an opton for you.

What will they see on the ultrasound? Are they looking at your ovaries or what?

Have you noticed increased hair growth on wierd places, like your face, chest, back?
    Weight gain?
    Any pain in the pelvis?
    Acne, or oily skin?

These are all symptoms of PCOS. If you have any of these symptoms, they could be the cause of your amenorrhea.

Check out this site see if any of that relates to you.
