Default Okay, Who Knows Jewelry Codes?

My customer got me a christmas present... According to him, it's 24k white gold. It has a flower on the clasp of yellow and green/blue? stones and he says the yellow ones are yellow diamonds. The code on the back says 750 FD 36. Is he full of shit? What does that code mean?

Lola, that would involve me leaving the house before dark. Okay, I guess he lied about the gold... 750 means it's 18k, not 24k. I guess FD stands for fancy diamonds and... I dunno about the other number yet.

Heh, this reminds me of this guy I was dating a really long time ago and he got me a "diamond" ring. I looked at the code (engraved on the jewelry, I mean) and it said CZ (cubic zicronium). That rat bastard, caught him!

White gold can't be 24k. (Neither can pink, red or green).

As to the 'diamonds' you can go to a jeweler and have it appraised. They'll not only confirm if it's real or not, but tell you how much the thing is worth!

Congrats on a pretty present though!

Isn't the karat weight of the gold typically stamped somewhere on the necklace, like the clasp? Like it should say 18K, 14K, 10K. 24K is way too soft to set stones in (24K rings become misshapen and distorted very easily)...but 18K is still very, very nice.
