    Default "The Pursuit of Happiness"

Just saw this movie last night, they enhanced and drug out the worse part of his life but when he finally gets the job as the stock broker they abruptly end the movie. It was okay but I'd rather had waited for it come out on DVD.

Between this movie, "Ali", "Hitch", and "The Legend of Bagger Vance", I've completely given up on Will Smith in movies. Fresh Prince, on the other hand, will always rock

Wow, ty for this, G. I was heavily planning to see this, but have many other choices, so I can def. wait. Besides, I think I'd rather read his book, & he's also doing the talk circuit..

Saw his interview on Oprah---it looked like a really good movie. Of course, anytime Oprah gets behind a movie and does the rah-rah thing, well----- the movies she claims to be soooo great are always sub-par. Does anyone remember the debacle over Beloved? As soon as I saw Oprah pimping this flick, I thought "can't be that great".

Is there a reason explained in the movie why the title of the movie is spelled 'The Pursuit of Happyness" (instead of 'Happiness'?).

It bugs me everytime I see the commercial. I can't concentrate on anything else. I don 't even know what it's about.

I want to watch this film because I grew up poor in Northern California & it's surreal- some of the world's most famous & legendary wealth is there, but a small fraction of the residents share in it. The first time I drove through San Francisco & saw the city skyline at night, I was like,...Gaaaaahd. I felt so tiny.

(Will Smith's not that awful. I watched "Wild Wild West" so I could look at him & Kevin Kline in tight pants.)

I disagree. I really liked him in the film. I will probably take my kid brother to see it this week. It's a powerful story and I think everyone is so focused on the fact that Chris Gardner is played by Will Smith that they missed the power of the story...

It's spelled "Happyness" based on a quote from the movie/book. You'd have to watch it to get it

yeah its a good movie but not as heartfelt as everyone made it seem. You can definitely wait to see it.

I just saw it and thought it was really good. I didn't hear any of the hype or reviews beforehand, so I just saw it and took it for what it was. It's a heartfelt story that isn't too preachy or cliche. The ending is a little bit predictable, but it doesn't steal away from the plot or the emotional impact of the movie. And I thought both Will Smith and his son are both good. In fact, I would go see it again purely for the little kid. He was so damn adorable!

Finally saw it yesterday night. I enjoyed it but it was nothing special.

I felt very sympathetic to the characters but the film portrayed to many "downfall" moments which seemed slightly endless. The scenes were different but the intentions the same. In other words it slightly dragged/repetitious.

The film seemed to "try" too hard. It seemed a bit forced.

The acting was great. I think Will Smith was great but I wasn't too happy with the writing/screenplay. And I don't thing it was a lack of character development but DIRECTION.

His kid was also great but same for him.

    Now "Thandie Newton" was fantastic.

    FINAL ANSWER...
    -Great Acting
    -Weak Writing/Script
    -Mediocre Directing
    -Average Cinematography
    -Weak Music Direction
