    Default Cleaning house.

God my apartment is a MESS. Yes, a M-E-S-S!!!!! I left this eve free just to clean up. Course I didn't get home from work till 9:15 and it's 9:40 now. But how did I get stuck here on SW?

Anyone have good cleaning tips? Especially tips on where to start?

That's it. I'm shutting down my laptop right now!!! And I'm going to start at the front door and just make my way room through room. Wow I need more than one evening...

When I get really pissed off I hire a maid...

But what I do is I set a timer for 15 minutes and clean everything I can for fifteen minutes. I start with trash, normally... then put clothes in the hamper.. put things away. After 15 minutes, I take a break.. 15 minutes later I do it again. You'd be SURPRISED what you can clean in 15 minutes!!!

I also throw out everything in the house I haven't used in 3 months. I'm a minimalist. Most people recommend a year.

Oh, and my cleaning tip is the dance music station on satellite radio. I just blare it from my TV and get to it. Boogie oogie oogie.

I go to Target, buy a bunch of cleaning supplies and new brushes and use 'em. But that's because I'm crazy and like to play with whatever new stuff I buy.

Get big boxes and throw all the letters, papers, magazines, and stupid shit laying around into them. The place will look much better very quickly, and you'll be motivated to go on and really clean.

Works for me maybe 10-15% of the time, anyway. I have a bunch of these boxes I have moved with me from place to place, too, lol!

Men like cleaning if it is made to seem like a technical challenge. One book I still remember advised making a "Cleaning Utility Belt" to wear around the house. Another ploy: Buy a new, fancy, high tech (?) vacume.

i needed this thread for inspiration...I live in a sty, and even my cat is shaming me with his looks around, stepping over the mess. "Mewww???" I need some people roomates, then I'd probably be a little more motivated by shame.

I'm pretty neat most of the time, but if I have let things go, I invite people over for a party/ dinnler/ w/ev. That way, I have to clean!!!!!

I did pretty well Mon night. My bathroom is shiny and my kitchen is clean and my dry cleaning is put away. Too bad those are the easy things.

Fly Lady looks great! I'm gonna shine my sink tonight!
