Dude I haven't even read the link yet, but I already know that Sprint is bad news. I have TONS of horrible service stories! Like the time that I went on a "vacation plan" while living in Australia for a few months(basically you agree to them temporarily shutting off your service while you are out of the country where Sprint doesn't work, and then you are eligible to restore your service when you get home; it's like $5/month for this plan). They told me to e-mail them when I wanted service restored. So I did just that. Then I went to California, and my phone still wasn't turned on. I called up Customer Service and they claimed that duhhhh it was in the middle of a billing cycle so I'd have to pay $40 to turn my phone on "early." I NEEDED my phone because I was traveling alone on the other side of the country, meeting a friend in a few days over there, plus my mom was worried sick about me. So I stupidly agreed to it...and they didn't do shit. Oh, and for each time that I was on the phone with customer service, I was put on hold for 20-30mins consistently!!!So the entire week, I had NO PHONE to use, even though I was paying all this money plus the $40 fee.
The day that I was in the airport going from California back home to Philly, there was a brutal snowstorm. My mom was worried sick about me and had e-mailed me, telling me to call her on the day of my flight to notify her if the flight was cancelled due to snow or not. Here I am, laid over in Phoenix, AZ and I shoulda been able to make a call to my mom, but instead I had to make a COLLECT CALL using my CREDIT CARD on a payphone. When I finally got home, I couldn't get my phone turned on for another week. And when I tried to use my parents' land line, they would flip out on me almost as bad as that Candace bartender(formerly of Signatures) that I wrote about recently on a different thread(my parents were STRANGE). The ONLY reason I was willing to pay the $40 fee to turn my phone on "early"(even though I'd told them about it prior, and they NEVER told me to notify them before the start of a billing cycle, even though I'd specifically asked them for procedure steps), was to have my phone with me while traveling in Cali. And I couldn't even get that. If I knew that I wouldn't have my phone working until almost the day of the next billing cycle, I woulda never ever agreed to pay that stupid $40.
Oh, and sometimes they would shut off my phone, even if I paid my bill on time or even if my bill wasn't due. They claimed that I had a "spending limit." I could write a single text message and go $0.10 over my spending limit, and they would shut off my phone and I had to wait on hold to bitch at someone and make a payment just small enough to put me below this so-called "spending limit." Meanwhile, that idiot loser I wrote about on a few occasions(the one that lied about cancer; the one I sued), apparently had a much higher "spending limit" than me, despite him having worse credit than me. So when he was calling and harassing me constantly a few years ago, he actually was a big reason that my phone kept getting shut off until I made another payment, meanwhile his phone would still be running. How annoying.
There were many many other annoying situations, like the time that I made around 10 fucking trips to the mall(1-2hr round-trip from where I lived) because the dumbass store reps refused to give me the appropriate charger for my phone. I was too unassertive to stand around like a dickhead while I was trying out the charger they gave me, so I would just drive home and not realize that they fucked up(yet again) until I was all the way home. Ditto goes for the dysfunctional phone they gave me, and how they served me when I tried to exchange it and/or get it fixed. The worst was when I got so fed up with Sprint, that I switched to AT&T. But they screwed me enough times already, so I didn't want to pay a $150 termination fee after all my troubles. I'd been with Sprint for 2yrs, but there was a lot of bullshit involved that resulted in them restarting my 2yr contract with them many many times. So I lied to them by saying that I was "going back to Australia," just so they'd put me back on the $5/month plan. $5/month til the end of the contract was cheaper than $150 outright...esp since I didn't HAVE $150 at the time. Well a few months later, apparently they found out I was lying, so they promptly terminated my contract, added the dreaded $150 fee, and sent it immediately to collections. The collections people called my NEW AT&T PHONE NUMBER, which I'd never disclosed to them, and were ghetto, rude, and unprofessional as hell. I was slighted that I would get something in collections. They were so rude and unprofessional(RPM is the company's name), that at first I thought this was a prank call(since my friends know how obsessed I am about keeping clean credit).
Finally, I wrote to the Better Business Bureau explaining the situation. This resulted in the Manager of Sprint Executive Relations calling me, apologizing profusely for all I'd been through, telling me that he couldn't blame me for wanting to get out of my Sprint contract, and cancelling the collections accout. But it took like half a year to get all of it cleared up. Think what woulda happened if I hadn't been so assertive?(for example, I was very unassertive during California and other times, and that's probably why they tried to screw me so bad those times!)
Sprint got my phone stolen. Seriously. I used to work in the mall and there was a Sprint/Nextel kiosk right outside my store. One day, the guy asked to see my phone and would not STFU so I let him see it. I had to go inside my store a second later because a customer finally walked in and I asked for my phone back. He bitched and said he would give it back in a second. I had to go in the store, so what the fuck ever, I went in without my phone.
I came out 7 minutes later and asked for the phone. It was fucking gone. The asshole had left it on the counter and gone to help a customer and it was gone. At this point, he started telling me that we would call the phone and text the phone until they brought it back. What?! Like anyone would bring back a free phone. Not bloody likely.
Then, after I insisted he replace it with one from his inventory, he told me he couldn't do that, but he could sell one to me from inventory at a discount. What?! Nevermind this would make him a profit, but pay for a phone I already had? Oh, hell no. I called his manager, who gave me the runaround, basically saying it was my fault for leaving it on the kiosk counter. Umm, I don't recall doing that. It was your dumbass employee!
Three days later, after calling every Sprint customer service number, I got a phone identical to the one I had before (from the kiosk guy) and free text messages for 6 months. The fucking kiosk guy gave me an attitude because he almost got fired for losing my phone and had to pay to replace it. He tried to make me feel guilty for the fact that he had to borrow money to pay for a new phone. Bitch, please, it was your ass that got it stolen.

Omg! that is fucked up!

LOL i used to work in sprint's customer care call center. OMG from the inside...yes they are all corporate minded/sales minded assholes. i only have sprint because the phones were free. and even as an employee i could tell you stories of my own calling for customer service horror stories.
