Any new news about Seattle clubs?

Since Seattle is now able to open new strip clubs for the first time in years, has anyone heard any rumors about if/when that will be happening? The ones that are currently available just don't work for me. I figure if there are more clubs, there will be more chances of something my style opening up. Crossing my fingers...

    They did??
I didn't know that, but really what's the point. The dance laws are so tight, it's not financially worth it anymore.
Ricks just got raided a couple days ago and a few dancers were taken to jail along with a manager.
I hope that's not where you work!!
Oh, okay, I found something on the new clubs- doesn't look promising, though:

    Here's something on Rick's:
13 dancers, manager arrested at Rick's strip club

    By Steve Miletich
    Seattle Times staff reporter

In one of its largest recent crackdowns at a strip club, Seattle police arrested 13 dancers and a manager at Rick's on Lake City Way this week, alleging violations ranging from prostitution to ignoring illegal activity.
Police spokesman Sean Whitcomb described the Wednesday night arrests as a typical vice operation using undercover officers who were sent into the club.
But the arrests come as the FBI, Seattle police and the King County Sheriff's Office conduct a major investigation into Rick's and other strip clubs long run by Frank Colacurcio Sr., his son, Frank Jr., and others.
Both Colacurcios have criminal records, primarily for skimming cash from clubs to avoid taxes.
The FBI-local investigation, which grew out of the 2003 "Strippergate" campaign-contribution scandal in Seattle, is focusing on allegations of prostitution, criminal profiteering, political corruption and past turf battles with competitors.
As part of the investigation, detectives have arrested three people in the past year in separate cold-case homicides. The killings, which occurred in King and Yakima counties in the 1970s, have been investigated for ties to the strip-club industry.
In one of the cases, a Pierce County woman pleaded not guilty to murder Thursday.
The Colacurcios have not been implicated in the killings.
In Wednesday's operation, officers arrested and booked 13 dancers and a manager, Whitcomb said. In all, the dancers were cited for 18 counts of illegal touching during lap dances; 16 counts of off-stage nudity, which is prohibited; 18 counts of accepting money for illegal acts; and four counts of prostitution. All are misdemeanors.
The prostitution arrests were rare for a club, involving allegations that dancers offered to perform sex acts in exchange for money.
The manager was cited for reckless managerial conduct, a misdemeanor, for allegedly being aware of illegal activity and taking no action.
Gil Levy, the club's attorney, said that he couldn't comment on the allegations without seeing the police reports and that he was not aware of a larger investigation..................
Lame. They have been targeting Rick's ever since those council members got busted. Rick's used to be untouchable. I think Big Frank gave up Sugar's to keep Rick's untouchable (meaning, when I worked at Sugar's it was a serious money maker with it going private. At that time, the police had ZERO jurisdiction there. Could not come in without permission. Then Sugar's went down the tube and the only place to make money was Rick's because the dancer's weren't being busted for *gasp* touching their breast!! Or for *cover your virgin eyes* leaniing on a customer while talking- at the table!- yes. They have cited dancers here for that).
ETA: I just wanted to add that the prostitution charges- THOSE are subject to the undercover's interpretation. I know a girl who was charged with prostitution because the cop got a hard on while she danced for him. Yep. That girl was a very clean dancer and didn't like to make any contact but he got turned on and charged HER. PLUS they printed her full name and the charge in the paper.

Yeah, mermaid is basically right on with everything. I don't think the strip club scene in Seattle will EVER get better. Girls who work at my old club (Deja Vu downtown) say it has gotten very bad there. At a club where guys used to get yelled at and kicked out for touching you at all while you were dancing for them, girls are now behaving exactly how they do at Rick's. It's a shame, that was really the only semi "clean" club left.

No no, I don't work at Ricks. I don't dance at all at the moment, just looking to get back into it. I worked at the Lusty Lady for a while, which was cool... probably the only decent place to work in seattle, but low $$.
You're right, with Seattle's laws, any new clubs would probably just turn into what is there currently. Bleh. Oh well, I am just going to keep my body in shape for when my time comes again

Well, the fact that dancers may have been cited for bullshit doesn't mean that many dancers at Rick's aren't doing some serious mileage in those lap booths. They certainly are. It's going on at Deja Vu too, maybe to a lesser extent.

One of the things that annoyed me the most about the club scene there, was the outrageuous house fees. Perhaps having some new clubs will force them to lower fees in order to keep girls.

But the worst part is just how demanding the local customers are - which of course is a result of the ridiculous laws. Doing a lapdance was not unlike going into a friggin wrestling ring

I would not be surprised if Seattle's escort sector starts a huge incline soon.

I mean if the world famous Seattle Rick's isn't protected anymore......

True true. But I remember when (awww, damn!! I sound like an old person, lol!) not even Rick's had a dirty rep. As the laws in Washington got tighter, the dances got more dirty because the girls were getting desperate because the dude's wouldn't spend any money un less it was "worth it".
Girrrll, there were times I went home with not a single dollar because I couldn't play that game and never "competed" for the dance. If the dudes wanted a dancer who grinded or grabbed or whatever, then either they found out real quick't wasn't me and spent their money on someone who did or they left because no one in the club would comply.

^^I know. Same thing happened in Houston - well known. Laws get tighter, clubs get dirtier.

^^^ I've seen this phenomenon happen without fail in at least 10 different cities, right after the city council enacts an anti-strip club ordinance ... which was supposed to 'clean up' the local clubs.

Unfortunately, none of the city councils every think through the 'law of unintended consequences'. From a purely logical standpoint, if newly illegal contact lap dances will get you a misdemeanor 'sex crime' bust, if long illegal HJ's, BJ's and FS will also get you a misdemeanor 'sex crime' bust, and if dancers can't make any money by trying to sell 'legal' non-contact lap dances, dancers who NEED to earn money must risk a misdemeanor bust in either case. However, HJ's, BJ's and FS are undoubtedly going to provide a much higher earnings potential than newly illegal contact lap dances - in exchange for what essentially boils down to an equal amount of bust risk, an equal amount in fines, and an equal black mark on their permanent records.

Even more ironic, it is much more likely that girls busted for newly illegalized contact lap dances will be found guilty than girls busted for giving HJ's, BJ's and FS. The reason is that the girls earning major money can afford to bring in a high-powered attorney to defend them (or more likely pull strings at city hall / DA's office ), whereas girls earning minor money from doing contact lap dances very likely won't be able to afford this level of legal representation and will be stuck with the club's attorney or a public defender.

Oh sure. It's happened just about everywhere the SC laws have gotten stricter. It's especially bad in those places where the laws are OVERLY strict, such as Houston and Seattle.

But someone posted on here once, and I think it was you melonie, that it's possible the city councils know what they're doing with these bullshit laws. These laws sure do tend to make the clubs into something shitty that the majority of "upstanding businessmen" wouldn't want to be seen in, and it sure does bring our earnings potential (as dancers) down.
