Waxing would really hurt + shaving is much better I think

It doesn't hurt as much as you think it will. I shave now because it's cheaper and easier... But popping a pain killer 30 minutes before you go wouldn't hurt either.

i shave too but i can never get it totally smooth and then the next day its all red and irritated and i get ingrown hairs
You do the whole shaving with the grain and exfoliating thing, right? I tended to get more ingrowns from the waxing. No harm in giving it a shotGood luck!

ya but i cant shave just with the grain i have to shave against it too or i cant get it that smooth, even doing that its still not as smooth as i would like
A good aesthetician is worth her weight in gold. I was waxed by a stupid bitch who didn't even wear gloves or change the wax between people, she hurt me so bad I couldn't even finish. I now to to a woman in a fancy boutique who does it so quickly and efficiently that I don't even have time to scream in pain.
My friend bought a professional waxing kit and she let me use it ( a separate roller from hers obviously), and it did a fabulous job. I bought a sally hanson microwave one about a week ago, hoping to get the same results, and I ended up ripping the skin off of both sides of my lips. I couldn't go to work all week because they scabbed over. It actually wasn't as painfull as it sounds, but maybe I was desensitized after using my friends waxer a few times. If it's a good wax, and is done properly, it will hardly even hurt the first time.

for some strage reason i truly enjoy the satisfaction of the post-shave itch. like, 2 days after... *scratch scratch scratch* ahhhhh
My trick is to shave diagonally across the grain so its not quite against the grain. You can do this in all 4 directions and it gets pretty smooth then. I never have ingrown hair problems or rashes of anything shaving this way. Oh it rarely ithese as it grows back either! Not sure if it will work for everyone, but ive been doing it this way for years (-:

I'm getting a brazilian soon... don't know whether to laugh or cry!
The last time I got a regular bikini wax (like, 5 years ago) it was freakin' awful! The woman was a sadist and I ended up with some of the nastiest ingrown hairs.
The salon I'm working in now has a couple of great estheticians and I figure if I get the same results as last time, it's just not meant for me. However, the esti wants at least 3 weeks of growth on me and I'm only at the half way point. I'm starting to feel a little... unkempt.
3 weeks!!!
My girls rule was always 10-14 days...... 1/4 '' is standard length.
It's not so bad, and that smooth feeling, to die for!!! I hateshaving so bad, but alas....
^ it reallly depends on how fast your hair grows.
i haaaaate growing the hair. it's the worst part, i think. and that's why i'mconsidering laser hair removal.
FYI, I swear by daily gentle exfoliationand the use of BikiniZone creme to stop razor burn.
"Did that sum' bitch cut his eyes at me!?"
I read on here to use deodorant on my bikini area after I shave and its made a world of difference in red bumps and in grown hairs. (I use oil of olay deodorant if that matters) Keeps it all smooth for me and i can shave everyday if i need to.

noticing a lot more ingrown hairs since i started waxing also

I made it to outgrowth week two and couldn't take it anymore. A combonation of cabin fever and fear of a freakin' parrot flying outta my jungle bush caused me to shave yesterday.

Waxing doesn't hurt as bad as you'd think. I'd call it only mildly uncomfortable. But really, that's all.
Totally worth it, in my opinion. Shaving sucks. But I do agree with enjoying scratching two days post-shave. Very satisfying.![]()
I'm on the other side of the fence here. I got waxed once and it KILLED!!! And I got the nastiest ingrowns too. My friend said it was cause I didn't go to a good place.
So I booked an appointment at a fancy salon in NYC that 'specializes' in it. I told myself that if I went through it once before I could do it again. I even did the tylenol before thing.
I was wrong. She pulled one strip and I was DONE!!! I tipped her, and they didn't make me pay.
And I wax my arms once a month. And if it's winter and I'm not dancing and I have the oppurtunity to let it grow, I'll wax my legs as well. I've wazed my eyebrows in the past. I can do waxing in general. But NOT down there. I'm a shaver.

That's funny. I'll do a Brazilian wax anyday, but legs? Yowzers. Down the front of my shins just kills. Go figure!![]()
I'll admit I go to a really, really great salon that does an awesome job on Brazilians.

For me, waxing down below hurts so f'n bad. It was torture. But I can't shave my inner lips because it gets awfully itchy growing back. (so does my booty crack) SO I get the inner lips&booty crack waxed, shave the rest. Those are the 2 parts that hurt the least anyway, so it works for me.

if you think waxing is bad, try using an epilator down there!![]()
yes, i'm crazy enough to do this on a regular basis. i actually prefer it over waxing b/c I can do it myself, don't have to go to a salon and pay assloads of $ every 3 weeks, and don't have to wait for the hair to grow back nearly as long.
I absolutely can NOT shave down there. It stings, it burns, I get red bumps no matter what I do, and it feels like there are thousands of fire ants with sandpaper shoes running all over my vagina. Agony. And it takes WAY too long and has to be done everyday, which if i'm already irritated down there from days of shaving, it's like pouring salt in an open wound.
Epilating is ridiculously painful for about a half hour, but then I don't have to worry about it for at least 3 weeks. it's worth it!

I've decided to have the laser hair removal done in 2007 on the bikini and underarm and one day have my legs done too. I'm so f-ing sick of shaving!!!!!! Think how much time we waste shaving before work, before dates, before sex! If you add that up over a lifetime, it's a long time wasted, and a lot of money on razors, shaving creams, bikini zone cream, hair removals, waxing, etc. I'm over it!!!! In 2007, that's going to be my year of spoiling myself with some things for my body that I never could have afforded before I started dancing 7 months ago.
^Ugh, I know! I wish the laser process were easier, too! I went in for two treatments at two different places. (The first place went out of business) I just gave up because the hair kept coming back exactly the same! It ends up being really expensive.
