Evidently they blew a "Fiberoptic Load Balancer" sometime Sunday Amsterdam time.
Oh well, you know what they say, a blown fiberoptic load balancer is a happy fiberoptic load balancer...
SmartCookie- TER is down again. Who knows why.

If I were "hobbyist" I would run, not walk, away from TER. That response to Phoenix Dave shows a lack of understanding of domicile. That proved to be a mistake for online gambling sites, and generally speaking, I think most Americans are a lot more comfortable with poker than hookers.
If I were a provider I'd stay away from TER ( it's back btw ). They have a very shady and sordid history of rolling over AND pressuring agencies and indies for "free samples" in exchange for positive notices. If any "reviewer" is ever questioned they should simply shut up or say it was just "erotic fiction".
Perla? What have you decided to do? If anything, how's it going?

As far as I know (and I'd much appreciate hearing otherwise if I am misinformed), but domicile related legal problems encountered by "off shore" online gambling sites has (so far) extended only to their owners and operators, not to their patrons. (However, for their owners and operators, the jeopardy extends well beyond domicile, one of them was picked up while changing planes between two international flights in Dallas I believe.) So, the analogy isn't directly to "hobbyists".
That said, in the US it clearly makes sense for anyone associated with The Biz in any way at all to avoid any and everything even remotely connected to LE activity, so sc's advice is reasonable at the very least. Also, fwiiw, I have never found TER to be of much use and long ago stopped visiting the site. Imo, if it goes away permanently, it is not all that big a loss to the online "hobbying" community.

According to a close friend of mine who does mostly incall:
If you advertise on Craigslist under erotic services, you'll get the most scummy guys, so avoid posting ads there. She advertises on "thatmall.com", and used to advertise on "LAExotics" but no longer (price went up, service went down). Citivibe is expensive, and she says that the guys that called her from that ad were creeps.
The Erotic Review is popular among hobbyists, though TER Dave certainly has controversy following him. Here's a link regarding TER:

MyRedbook.com is popular in the SF Bay area. And in LA there is also Troothsayer.com, both are free to post at.
As a general note, it's important to remember that the police are allowed to lie to you at any time and for any reason, including lying about being a cop.
Here is important information regarding LE, and a must read:

And here is a link dealing with sex worker legal issues:

In general (and I speak mainly of Los Angeles):
1) Streetwalking makes you an immediate target, both for cops and other scum. Don't streetwalk, unless you're in Canada where it's legal and accepted.
2) Most of the providers I know personally do incall from their home. They are very selective on the phone and always go with their intuition, and hang up on alot of callers.
Normally, setting up incall uses what's known as "the standard two call system" for new clients. With the first call, the client calls, and the providers screens them and sets up the time. The client is then instructed as to the general area to go and park. Once parked, the client calls again and is *then* given the address.
3) Some of my friends may do outcall, and the system here is that the provider calls the client back to complete screening before traveling over to that location.
4) Pimps: A pimp is defined as a guy that fucks you for free, and takes half (or all) your money. In return, he gets you addicted to heroin and infects you with an STD.
5) Agencies/Houses: A good agency isn't such a bad thing, if you don't like advertising yourself. Most experience providers are independent, and agency girls are generally less experienced and not clued in on screening techniques. It might not be bad *start*, since you don't have to advertise nor build a clientele, but you'll be giving away alot of money too.
If you work independently, it's on you to advertise and build your business. Working with an agency, that's taken care of - but they generally take 50% or so. So you do a date for $300, you get $150. It doesn't take too many long to realize that it costs less than a few hundred to advertise, so working alone you can make much more.
Also, if you work at a house/apt situation you get a chance to learn more screening techniques than can be written in an email.
Best of luck

"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

I see two ladies regularly who are both busy but use opposite approaches. One is an agency gal with good TER reviews who does only in call and the other is an independent lady with no presence on TER or any other review boards. She does almost entirely out call, at this point only to regulars. The one thing both of these gals have in common is a good website. The agency gal is featured on a very well designed site that is maintained by her agency. My independent friend has her own site that she developed and maintains. You can hire people to do this for you as well. Both the agency and my independent gal advertise on Eros.com. The agency also runs a weekly listing on TER and TBD.
I've used agencies and independents for years and have never had any problems with LE. At the same time I have walked away from a few appointments where it looked like the ladies involved where being indiscreet in their behavior and looking for trouble. In my area at least, local LE seems to be concentrating on busting the Craig's list low-end girls who stupidly post 20 times a day and tell you what town they are in. I'm no expert but I'd say the lower profile you maintain the better.
I'm curious if anyone has any personal knowledge or experience with "The Other Board," a free review site for Colorado providers. When reading it, it sounds much too artificial, almost as if nearly every review were written by the same person. That may be a function of the "culture" of such activities and reviews, or there might be something else going on. Thanks.
Smokeless- Interesting question. A lot of reviews are phony in one way or another. Some are posted by the providers themselves to drum up business; some by the"competition" to dampen it. Reviews posted by custies range from accurate to ridiculous distortion; usually of their own abilities and performance. A number of sites have an unofficial "format" that is usually followed by the reviewers using the same lingo and abbreviations (" bbbj, daty, rcg" etc.)

I used "The Other Board" last year while working in Denver and found a very good FBSM girl (she was also on Craig's List) listed so I guess I'm batting a thousand with it. Still, it did seem as if a very small group of people where doing most of the reviewing. I would assume that is the byproduct of it being what appears to be very much a local board.
If anyone is considering going into escorting there are two must read sites from the uk and both written and run by working girls in the uk.

Thanks, smartcookie. I appreciate the kind words ... even if I am a man! Say hello when you are on .

I have done escourting, and it can be fun as long as you research whom you are working for...it was funny because I had found out that the guy I was working for also had been my mother's boss as well. I SAY THOUGH THAT women need to open up their own escourting business. Be your own boss. I am trying to set mine up now because I am tired of being the minority that no one wants to hire in my city. Have fun and set strict guidelines when you do escorting no matter whom you work for. Always know how far you are willing to go when it comes to those jobs, and never let anyone pimp you out.![]()
