I use a dental discount plan. Do you have any interest in that?
They jsut cap the prices that procedures can cost as long as you use dentists in their network.

I thought having a percentage off was best. I hadn't thought about a plan like that. I guess it depends.

i like united concordia.
Love it!

I use Ameriplan. It about $49 per month/per person & $59 for the whole house hold. You can save anywhere from 10% - 80% off of any kind off health procedure. You just have to make sure that your doctor can use them.

^^^^^^Then you should know that Ameriplan is a thinly veiled get-rich-quick-pyramid scheme. http://www.ripoffreport.com/results....&q5=Ameriplan+
I have delta dental, through my company. I'm not sure how they work with self-insureds, but my coverage is OK.
Free exams 2x/yr, 1 set of x-rays/yr, 80% basic fillings, 50% most oral surgeries, etc. Max $1K coverage per year.
For the premium, I pay $3/week out of my check, my company pays about $8/wk I think.

I don't have dental insurance. I pay for my dentist for cash. He is really not expensive and he is good. He is not in NYC though. I go for my cleaning twice a year. I have since i was a kid. I had clear braces and my wisdom teetth romoved at 18. Braces at 11.
Thank God my Dad got me braces and my teeth done at early age.

I've settled on a discount plan for my first year of coverage and I may sign up for insurance. I don't have any big dental issues just maxillary exostosis which is unsexy but not life threatening!

I go through Liberty, they've been OK so far.

Random note for Aussies: Medibank has great Dental.. covers $2000 per year in dental and costs $40 a month.
