Whats up guys, starting today im gonna stop eating fried food/soda and would like to know what are some good dishes/food to consume now. I know fruits/vegtables/water will be good but i need some help. I dont know jack about nutrition and would like some input on what food to go for that will "satisfy" me and still give me a balanced diet. Im doing this because of my skin/overall health.

IMHO, If you are gonna try to stop eating fried foods, try weaning yourself with the same sorts of things, but the baked versions.

That helps me. Like baked potato chips, baked chicken nuggets, fish sticks, French fries etc. Its not the healthiest diet, but it is a healthier transition from fried foods.

damn, good luck to you! Maybe instead of cutting it out completely (at least initially) maybe just cut your portions significantly. Ya know? Like only eat a couple instead of the whole plate.

If you like sauces you could learn to bake and broil then add sauce so you have the juiciness without the calories.

When I cut all this stuff out of my life, I added in protein at every meal, including my snacks. Got in a ton of healthy fat too. Helps to keep you satisfied.

Try eating raw almonds in place of chips and stuff (careful, easy to overdo), lowfat cheese is always good. Turkey rollups with low fat mayo is a good snack.

And yes, broil instead of fry. Use a ton of spices and experiment. I think the flavor is fantastic.

Thumbs up Re: Eliminating fried food from my diet....please help

Fried food does not appeal to me. Work with more spices over grease and you will be satisfied in your tummy.

I totally agree. Healthy is one thing but being a masochist is another. I still treat myself to sliders once a year.

I think once you decrease the amount of fried food you eat, you crave it less. I rarely crave fried food. When I do I eat it because it doesn't happen very often.

I have to say, now will be a good time to try other dishes. With a differant seasons.
    Try recipes like
    2 boneless chicken Breast
    1/4 white wine
    3 cups of water
    red pepper
    black pepper
red onions(half of a small oinon chopp)
Wash chicken very well, take a knife and slice little lines in the middle of the breast.Season the chicken with red pepper, and black pepper. Then add the onions. Next add the water, than the wine. Place in the oven on 350 degrees. PLease cook for 50 to 60 mins. While baking please check the water in the pan. make sure you have the water at the same height before you put it in the oven. THis keep the meat nice and juicy. You can also turn the meat over about 25 mins after you put it in the oven.

You can also steam your veggies. I cant not lie. I may steam my veggies but I love the butter or cheese that gose on top of it.

You have to venture out and try new reciepes. That kinda makes eating right fun to me.

    Well good luck

I am trying to eat healthy too. So far this is my main food staples:
    tuna w/ smart balance mayo,
bread w/ peanut butter, bananas, avacadoe, sardines, low sodium ham and low sodium cheese, oj, lowfat milk,no fat cottage cheese( the walmart brand rocks!),oatmeal, green beans rice and corn baby food, the little delmonte canned peas or corn.
I still eat out a buttload but I try to get sushi( expensive) or subway. It's really hard. Good luck.

Whenever I'm trying to "be good" for awhile, I find that eating an avocado really helps with the cravings for fatty foods. Avocado has plenty of healthy fat to help me feel satisfied. Olives and avocados are both really helpful in that way.

Totally agree with this comment! Salmon has always been another "fatty" food that satisfies my cravings especially during PMS and it is VERY good for your body. Now, if I have a bad hangover; without a doubt, I will indulge in some fried, cheesy, artery clogging mexican food.

I love fried food but I try not to eat it too often for obvious reasons... I find when I crave it, I can usually satisfy the craving with a good stir-fry. Lots of crisp veggies and some tofu or meat, "fried" in just a little bit of olive oil or sesame oil. I still get the fried flavor but without all that fat soaked in, and the veggies are crisp enough for bite.

Occasionally I also like to roll chicken in a mixture of crushed cornflakes and garlic and bake it at 450 F. It tastes and feels just like fried chicken but it's much healthier.

If only it was that easy. Once something is so ingrained, it's rather hard to reprogram yourself. Slowly ease up, wean yourself off....moderation becomes the key.

Yek, you always have the greatest recipes. I'm totally going to try the cornflake and garlic thing when I get back into town.

Hee hee... it's best when you mix a little water into a beaten egg and dredge the chicken in that before rolling it in the cornflake/garlic mix. It really tastes just like fried.

^ yes! i do the same, but i use breadcrumbs, or smushed up crackers and add some garlic and season salt (just a little).

it's one of the comfort foods i stole from my mum

i'm trying to cut out fried foods.. not always the easiest to do when you spend so much time at a sports bar (for work).
