Default Canadian traveling in the states..

OK, I'm really excited, cause I just got an unlimited travel pass for the next two months which basically gives me free airfare anywhere in N.A

I'm looking to travel to the states over the next 8 weeks, and want to know which states are Canadian friendly (don't need any US visa etc.) and have good earning potential.

So far, I'm looking at Florida, NY and Phoenix. Can anyone suggest any specific clubs I should consider?? I'm also travelling alone, so don't really want to work at any clubs where safety is an issue...

There is no dancing legally in the US as a Canadian citizen without a work visa. Your best bet is to hit up cities that dont require licenses. I did manage to do PHX once(as I told you already) but it was really a shot of luck.

If you work do NOT cross the boarder with your stripper gear, if customers sees it your denied entry to the US. You should either buy stuff when you get there or mail it down.

Also dont tell any customers your Canadian, dont tell any girls you work with either. The club needs to know your Canadian without a visa because your putting them at risk.

Make sure your hotel is booked for each city ahead of time and not to close to the club.

Umm Scarlett is another girl to talk to about this. But thats all my advice

Be prepared if your caught.. your busted and sent back to Canada minus the money you made and your costumes and you are unable to re-enter the US.

Also as of Jan 23 you need a Canadian passport.

officially, the Patriot Act requires that anyone hired by a US business in any state must either be a US citizen, have a 'green card' resident alien permit, or have a work visa issued by the US state dep't which is specific to the exact type of work that the person is seeking. For all practical purposes, non-feature dancers working without a booking agency have zero chance of being granted a US work visa.

Also officially, US dancers can't work in Canadian clubs without a Canadian work visa either. At one time these were easy to get. However, after a nasty political scandal re Canadian work visas being granted to Mexican dancers by Canadian gov't officials in exchange for 'certain favors', applications are now much more heavily scrutinized.

Cally is 100% correct that border customs inspections (in either direction) will not take kindly to a girl wearing 'stripper' make-up with a 'dance bag' in the trunk of her car. As Cally says, it's a much safer bet to use UPS / FedEx and ship your dance gear separately. It's also a good idea to try and look the part of a housewife / shopper / vacationing student when crossing the border in terms of clothes, make-up, 'personality' etc.

Obviously any US city that requires a dancer's license will never grant such a license to a Canadian citizen without a work visa ... and because these licenses always involve at least a cursory background check of criminal records there's no way to avoid the fact that you are a Canadian popping up instantly during the background check.

Even in cities that don't require licenses, all 'corporate' clubs / chain clubs will absolutely ask for proof of citizenship / green card / work visa. These organizations have corporate attorneys who have prepared the dancer's applications and have established procedures for hiring of new 'employees' that comply with US law - specifically the Patriot Act in this case.

In cities that don't require licenses, there will undoubtedly be clubs who will hire a 'hot' dancer regardless of 'paperwork', in violation of the Patriot Act. However, be aware that such clubs usually tend to have an equal disregard for other inconvenient US laws ... like prostitution laws, drug laws etc !

You're taking your chances wherever you go. That's all there is to it...I've had good luck in Montana. That's the only technically unlicensed place I've worked in the US.

Did you get the Air Canada pass? That looked like such a good deal! I considered it, but the timing wasn't right for me. I'm jealous!!

    Feature costumes for sale!
