psh, real nice.
it's actually very common for fur products from China to be made with dog or cat fur....and it's not labeled as such!
The EU and USA are trying to crack down on the export of dog and cat fur (it's illegal, but still manages to find its way in), but it's very popular out there since dogs and cats are so easy to find and domesticated (so they don't fight back.)
You can't hate P. Diddy (who I'm sure was wearing it unknowngly because it was labeled as FAUX FUR!) or the Chinese on this one. It's the demand for animal fur that's the problem.
I wondered if anyone watched the videos of racoons being skinned alive. I did.![]()

they wouldn't skin animals at all if there wasn't a demand for it though. Besides, Americans are not that much better. Only it's allowed because only domesticated animals are protected by animal cruelty laws.

But leather is fine? WTFever. I am a carnivore, and I do wear leather. The crazy little things make me mental. It's okay if it's cow, but god forbid it's dog. Because, hey, I like Benji. Ugh. No one is innocent. I just drank a huge glass of wine and I shall go to bed before I rant. I will say that as much as I am hesitant to defend Mr P Sean Puff Diddy Daddy Combs, it's quite possible that he had no idea what was going on. He's the figurehead, and I'm sure he has minions to take care of the mundane day to day task BS. I'm not excusing it, it's just not far-fetched that he wouldn't honestly know, especially if we assume he was told it was faux fur. ok. G'nite folks.
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.
no, leather is not fine. And neither is wool!

I am glad that dogs and cats are protected, but I wish it would apply to all animals

That wasn't directed at you specifically, Emily. I was being facetious. Wow. Really...no wool either? Lemme go check that link before I hit the sack.

I know. I guess it's easy to look at leather and wool and not empathize with an animal that suffered....whereas it's much more difficult with fur.
I have leather from before I made a decision to boycott it. I kinda wish I didn't, but I do and I feel guilty sometimes. But what's done is done.
Lately, I'm finding there are lots of non-leather alternatives. And I save so much on not buying trendy handbags and shoes!

This is threadjacking a bit, but my uncle shears sheep in Utah. He doesnt kill them, nor skin them, he simply shears the wool off. These are free roamin', grass munchin', side of the mountain livin' sheepies. Is that not okay with you, using that wool? I'm seriously not being condescending...I'm interested. Feel free to PM me, or continue my blatant threadjack. My winehappy ass is in the shower. Happy holidays if I dont get back on tomorrow before work.

Diddy's been using REAL fur in his clothing line for a long time. He may use faux fur, but he's def. not opposed to real fur. IMHO, he's an insufferable, talentless hack of an ass of an egomaniac.

wow. well, i would have to agree that sean combs ( i refuse to call him puff p or diddy because shit who changes their name THAT often?? prince or the artist formerly known as or that sign thing? lol sorry) probably did not know what he was wearing or selling but i AM glad to hear he changed it once he was informed. if he hadn't then that would be another story altogether.
edit: ok i just read the post right above, and wow man, i take that last bit back. BOOOOO!
i wonder what made him change it now?
Love it!

When ALL the people who boycott/don't wear fur, leather, wool etc. stop wearing blood diamonds, I'll get rid of my 3 fur coats.
And I don't care if your great-great-gammy Mildred passed them down either.
Roll up on me with a can of spray-paint if you want to.....![]()

AAAAAHHHHHHH they skinned it alive11!!!!!!! it was still blinking and looked like a baby seal!!!! OMFG!!!! I am so scarred right now.... holy shit that was something out of a horror movie... tell me it wasn't real tell me it wasn't real tell me it's vegan propaganda of some kind tell me it wasn't real.... *shivers and bites nails*
for the squeamish.... DO NOT click on the link in the page below the raccoon dog picture... oh lord i feel awful right now...

I truly hope that P Diddy didn't know it was fur. Dog or not, mislabeling something as faux when it's real is really wrong. Who knows, maybe he is a little more aware of the cruelty of the fur industry and will stop using real fur in any of his clothing.
In regards to the blood diamonds thing, there are non-conflict diamonds available out there. The Kimberley Process accounts for 99% of the diamonds now. But there are no lives spared ever in fur or leather.
Actually it's their coulture. They have been eating dogs and cats since god knows when. Fur is also in big demand.
Problem: They also steal pets, which was on the news a while back, and a woman lived in fear of the sales for fur taking off due to "pet" theft.
They keep these animals in crowded cages in the sun, no water no food. It's inhumane, and many are over there fighting for at LEAST humane ways of keeping these animals, and PLEASE not to bash them over the heads in front of tourists.....FUCK
But it's not fine for our cows either. All people actually want is these animals to have a decent life before death and not be tortured and crushed while being killed. Cows suffer awful too before and during in the slaughter house.
I mean if we are NOW going to be humane while putting a serial killer to death....why not an innocent animal that feels pain as we do?
Fucked up world.
Yup. Sorry, I like leather, I like fur.
I don't buy fur from rare animals though and I do seriously wish that leather and fur and diamonds, etc. could be gleaned through more humane means (cows happily grazing, then BAM! bullet in the head, even injection of air possibly??).
But Humans are omnivores. We are meant to eat meat, and wearing animal products traces back through all of history.

Umm, the Kimberley Process does not really do anything for smuggling. Especially from one African country to another, where they are then certified, lol
Before the Kimberley Process, the diamond industry estimated conflict diamonds made up 4 percent of the global trade, while nonprofit groups, such as Partnership Canada Africa, estimated the total at around 15 percent.
The industry claims the Kimberley Process has curtailed the trade to less than 1 percent.
Its all about who you believe, the diamond industry, or common sense.
Hell, this "wonderful" process has only been in place since 2003! So like I said, when everybody gets rid of those blood diamonds that Gammy passed down....
IJustJayda!
Last night I was watching "March of The Penguins" & was getting mad at the seals who eat penguins. But it's "The Circle of Life." (It sounded better in "The Lion King.")
All living creatures die. My wish is to prevent suffering. Humans can't exist without altering their environments. And affecting local wildlife.
PS RE Threadjacking for sheep- the 4H slang term for sheep is "grass maggot."![]()
I don't have issue with death. I have issue with people who profit off animal suffering and abuse. Nature shows don't phase me. Seeing a gazelle who lived its whole life running around the wilderness and killed in a humane way is normal.
crowding animals in pens, physically hurting/altering them without painkillers, and inhumanely killing them? No point, except to maximize profit.
You're right. Humans can't exist without altering their environemnt. So what does that have to do with a coat made of dog?
