"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"
Hehehe. Christmas is now... about Jesus?![]()
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
LOL...I always find this funny...especially since Christmas is a Pagan holiday and Jesus was born sometime in June/July.
Anywho...

Oh, what better tactic for the armies of the one god to use as they drive out the many than to place the new christian holidays on days where there are already parties. Parties that don't mesh well with the new ideals, albeit, but useful celebrations for ushering in the new era.
Now, make your cookies, put up your lights, and pray to the christian Santa Claus!

(i know it's been posted somewhere before... but i can't get enough of it)
ah who is this jesus person that we are speaking of

the best available evidence is that celebrating dec 25 as christmas predates pagan holidays by several centuries, fyi.
how could celebrating christmas predate pagan holidays, mia? im sorry im just confused but i prolly totally didnt understand what you said!! lol.. pagan religions (for lack of a better word) are much much older than christianity, as christianity is a very young religion
<Rhiannon_SW> :that's where Jimmy Hoffa went!* Rhiannon_SW gasps.

plus if it wasn't for a certain roman emporer at the time... christianity may never have become such a force as it is today! think about it... would it really be as popular if it wasn't made a "state wide religion" at the time of this emporer ??
pagan religions to me is anything that isn't related to judaism, christianity and islam. there were monothestic "religions" in "pagan" times however nothing like these three "powerful" religions as such.

Jesus had a great PR man in Paul. The guy was a PR genius, and got the ball rolling in the first place. If you find that kind of thing interesting you might want to look into Paul and his life. That guy is a rags to riches story that bears repeating.
Oh, and Silverback, I didn't get to watch the video as it has been deleted due to copyright. What was on it?

It was a segment from the Southpark episode where Jesus and the kids go into Iraq to resue Santa from the Iraqis. Jesus is killed during the extraction and, in memorium to his lost friend, Santa indicates that from that point on Christmas would be about remembering Jesus.
It's funnier if you watch it.![]()

basically, the timeframe chosen to celebrate christ's birth predates the pagan festivals that are often claimed to be 'ripped off' by xianity for that timeframe. if xians were already doing something when they came to a pagan area, it really isn't ripping off the pagans there, you know? and the time in question was determined by christians long before recorded pagan celebrations of that month. if anything, the case could be made that pagans incorporated xian elements into their own festivals much more strongly.
By all means I would love to see something in print supporting that...
