    Implants and Underwire

How long did you wait or were recommended to wait before wearing underwire bras after BA, especially if you had the crease incision?

I was told to wear an underwire immediately (like day 2, after the bandages came off), but I had a trans-ax placement and I was using the "strap" to push them down.

I was allowed after 2 days as well and had a crease incinson. Make sure you get a good fit bra, if its too big in the band it will irriate your incison if you get it on the crease

yeah, they didn't fit right for me at first either. I actually had to get a cup size too big so the wire fit. Then a few weeks later I fit into my regular size.

My doc told me no wires for a year, but I still wear them sometimes, just not often...

^^ i will but unfortunately my next appt will be in a week. i'm tempted to try it anyway since now that my swelling kinda went down my surgical bra is a little big. i'm currently sports bra but it keeps irritating the bottom of my boob. i'm just scared that if i dont give them enough support while they're still brand new they will get horribly messed up.

I'm about 3 months post op and I was ok'ed to wear an underwire at one month, but I didn't start wearing them til a couple weeks ago. They still irritate my incision sometimes (crease). I wear/wore the tank tops with the built in bra, that's ALL I was allowed to wear for the first month. You can buy them for cheap at Old Navy.
I believe you Dottie and you have my support

Do you have the elastic band on still? When your healing I would worry more on not having anything that pushes them up like a sports bra thats too small than them not getting enough support.

Thanks for the responses everyone.... I can't remember what my doctor suggested...I'm calling today to find out - but the Mentor website (the brand of implant I have) said wait at least three months then rotate usage. I was just worried and wanted to see what everyone else thought. I did wear an underwire one last night out to dinner It looked great but being that I was too small chested before to wear underwire...wearing it actually feels funny! LOL!

crissychan- i'm still wearing the sports bra mostly because they are so heavy that i was having trouble walking or even standing up straight without the support. mostly the problem was the pushing them in, like flattening them, than up. i'm on my 9th day post op though so it's beginning to feel better and a good amount of swelling has gone down.

Okay then that makes since, I got 627cc's and I got some sport tanks from target to help with support while staying comfortable. Be sure to try and sit up straight as much as you can so that you don't develope back problems.

^^ i'm trying to, LOL. it's getting easier but still feels extremely heavy. i ended up getting this grandma style bra without a wire. it feels so much better than the sport bra did.
