    Default Dumb, Calming Things

I like to fill in paper with an ink pen. The whole paper, so it's a solid color. What are your calming things that may seem dumb to an outsider?

i rub my feet together. sometimes when i'm anxious i find something that needs peeling and i go to town on it until i feel better. when at at work i take it out on the pole by spinning around for an entire song.

i also find great comfort in picking my nose. i don't really know why but it helps.

also socks will always put me in a better mood. i get a better rub sensation with my feet that way.

Twirling my hair always calms me down.

Sometimes I do it and it puts me into such a trance that I start breathing through my mouth with my tongue out a little.

    That's when I know I'm calm.

I chew my lips. It's a bad habit and I need to stop it.

A normal sized piece of notebook paper is about 2 - 2 1/2 hours.

i bite my lips a lot too. it's bad.. they bleed a lot!

i also touch myself a lot. not masturbating or anything, but just rubbing my arms or stomach or legs or something.

i've known a few people who like colouring in the entire sheet of paper.. so that's not weird or dumb to me

doodles celtic knots and patterns in notebook, and colors things in with highlighters...this works a lot, and my notes are generally pretty

After I had my baby I had trouble falling asleep. My friend taught me a trick she used to do: you relax your entire body starting at your feet and working your way up, tricking your mind into thinking your body is numb from (knees, arms, whatever) down. It worked!

Also, I pick at my nails a lot. I used to bite them but then I got braces and lost the ability to do that. Granted, they look nice but I just can't help it. Jeezee.. I am doing it in between sentences...

Another lip biter here..also when I was younger I would sit on the floor with my legs crossed and rock back and forth listening to music.

Ok, I know this thread is a little old but my fiancee uses stuff called thera-putty which is normally used for rehabiltation. You can find it at:

    http://www.sammonspreston.com/

She is entertained for hours mashing it with her hands. It IS really cool stuff. She is trying to totally quit smoking so it helps with that too.

As for me... while she is playing with thera-putty, I play with thera-boobies. LMAO

It's a good system. Everyone is happy!!

I like to "block" my kitchen cabinets like they do at the grocery store. It looks purty.

And I daily put on my husbands shirt-from-last-night.The smell makes me very calm when he's away.

I chew my lips and play Sudoku. Endlessly. And I cook. Seriously, I'm awesome to be around during finals. I produce food in ridiculous quantities.

I have a shirt of H's that I hug when I miss him espically. If I'm feeling really bad I bring it in my purse. Kinda freaky, but it really makes me feel better. I also crack my knuckles. I eat rice cakes (I eat mindlessly, so at least these are good for me and low cal). I write letters to people as well. I don't always send them, but it's healing.

I'm the compulsive sudoku queen! I love it! You sound like me (or I sound like you) I love to cook, it's so relaxing. I give so much food away. Seriously. It'd go bad otherwise!
