Arrow Chubby tummy and thighs - pilates would help?

Hello, i really have troubles with my pouchy stomach...bleh!like when i bend over to paint my toe nails, i can feel the fat and it makes me feel horriable!

also my thighs are getting flabbier..i can feel them rubbing together when i walk - ugh!

i'm 5'5 , weigh around 135, 28 inch waist and 34DD. (if that counts for anything)

I know i eat bad...so im going to start to eat healthier and actualy STOP eating when im Full.

however im horriable at motivation..especaily when it comes to exercise. I think pilates will be great for me, but was wondering, does it really help? with the problems that i have? who has taken it and gotten good results??? how many days a week should you do pilates in order to actualy see some results?

    thanks so much!

when I used to do pilates religiously it helped me get in a lot better shape and I lost about 10 lbs. Now if I could only make myself do it that much again. What you eat is also important too but pilates did definitely help me.

I know you've probably heard this ten bazillion times, but remember: weight loss and body fat is 80% diet. Pilates will help with shaping and toning, but it will not burn a shitload of calories like a high intensity cardio session.

At any rate, I say go for it! Just really start paying attention to your diet if you want to drop some fat - the pilates will help sculpt what a healthier diet will REVEAL!

Yes it will help to tone but in order to burn fat you must do cardio.

I use the Winsor Pilates advanced DVD and it does wonders. I swear I could see results in days. Plus, it's really fun and challenging.

^^ Yup, me too. A few years ago I was on a lose weight kick (wanted to get back into my size 3 jeans, when my 5's started getting tight.) I ate healthy, mostly salads, veggie sandwiches and lean pockets, switched to diet soda, and used pilates (no cardio or anything else). I was back in my size 3's in a month Damn now where did I put those dvds....

I tried the Winsor Pilates DVD's and they didn't really do shit for me. I get a lot better results from cardio and weight lifting (and of course eating healthy). But so many girls rave about pilates, so maybe it's worth trying out for yourself. You could always sell the DVD's on eBay if you don't like them.

What works well for my tummy (which is my #1 problem area) is doing crunches on a medicine ball in addition to my cardio and weightlifting routine. It seems to work better than doing crunches on the floor for some reason. Lunges are great for your thighs too. I've recently started doing 30 of them every other day and I can really feel my thighs and butt tightening up.

all I know is when I started pilates I was on Weight Watchers and sort of stuck at a certain weight and couldn't seem to lose more. I was trying to lose about 10 more pounds. The only other exercise I did was walking. After I started pilates I lost the extra weight. I agree that diet is a huge part of it but the pilates definitely did help a lot. My pilates instructor trained a lot of celebrities in the past and she was a really good instructor. I do have to say that who teaches you makes a huge difference. After she left to go back to LA I went to another studio and it didn't compare. I ended up buying my own machine and going back to what my original instructor taught me. I had lost a lot of strength after just going to the other studio for a month or two. Also, what that studio was having me do was actually hurting my back where as what my original teacher taught me helped me with my back problems. Pilates is definitely wonderful but you need to have the right person teach you.
