Default can't seem to earn more

I have been dancing for a few months now and my earnings seem to be stuck. No matter what night I work I seem to get around the same money.
I think it is a good amount of money and I don't really know what others earn coz I don't ask so I don't know how I can earn more.
I seem to get between $450 and $500 a shift - this is in Melbourne Australia and this is the same during the week or on a saturday (our busiest night).
I have heard some dancers in Melbourne seem to get between $700 and $1K on a saturday night. I can't even imagine how I would do this.
I have to do one stage set a hour for 15 minutes and I work roughly an 8 hour shift so I worked it out I'm pretty much only selling one $50 dance per hour - 10 mins. So I must be wasting too much time selling the dances.
I don't know, I only stay with a customer for a song or two so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I don't sit in the dressing room either.
Im frustrated. Any tips? I have read heaps of money making tips on hustle hut and I use them but it seems I always walk out of there with roughly the same money.

Do you journal at all? This could be a very useful tool to help you get out of your head a little. When sales people in general plateau with a certain level of sales and can't seem to break a ceiling for some reason, it's because they are usually doing a lot of things right and a few things wrong they aren't in-tune with. This is usually the case with people just like yourself...who are at the 75% mark of the higher income levels. You're close...REALLY close, just not quite there.

My suggestion would be for you to start journaling every night you come home from work. If you already journal for your personal life, buy a separate journal just for work. Just start writing about what worked well that night, what didn't work well that night, etc. While it's still fresh in your head is the best time to do it, not the next day or the weekend thereafter. Journalling helps to get all the jumble of thoughts in your head down into something tangible that you can look at. A thought becomes an action once it's in a physical form so be constructive in your journaling. Make detailed notes on what you think the average dollar amount was that night in each sale. Were you selling a lot of $20 dances or were you selling VIP rooms. Were you converting each single dance into two, or three, or more? What were the typical kinds of rejections you were hearing that night? Were there things that you had no control over that maybe distracted you in some way? Don't just journal about the things that didn't work though, be sure to write down the fact that you closed a sale with some guy for seven dances in a row etc. And if you did, write down how you did it.

As you start doing this exercise more religiously, you'll start to see patterns. It might be that you are closing more larger deals but closing less often. It could be you are closing on a lot of single dances and not upselling well. Get my drift? While it's all floating around in your head, you may be overthinking it all too much. Start getting it down on paper and you'll start to see the trends in what you are doing over time and will give you a good strategy for getting into that top 5% quickly.

my tip is to thank your lucky stars that you make that much. not that you wouldn't like more, but don't lose perspective.

Thanks DW that's a really good idea. All I've been doing is writing down my earnings for each shift but i really like the journal idea.
My club doesn't have champagne room. It's harder (for me anyway) to sell multiple dances because most dances that I sell are the $50 ones and a lot of customers find that quite expensive. Towards the end of the night is always easy to sell - this is when I make most of my money. The start of the night I find that I could go an hour or more without selling any dances. I find it such a hard-sell when the guys are just arriving. I will definately try the journal though.

Pretty-Penny don't get me wrong I am really happy with my earnings, I just thought it was weird that I make the same amount during the week when we are not really busy and on saturdays when the club is packed and figure that my time management and some other factors need some polishing.
I have also noticed that a few girls are constantly busy - in and out of the private dance area non-stop whereas I don't seem to be selling as many dances. Always room for improvement.

There are equal advantages and disadvantages to working weekday nights (when it's slower) as well as working weekend nights (when it's busier). I find that there are more big spenders on weekdays or day shifts and more customers willing to buy on weekends because the odds are higher when there are more potential buyers.
So while it may take you longer to find the guy who wants to give you $500 when it's slow, it will take you about the same amount of time to rack up that amount of dances from several guys when it's packed. That's probably why you're making a similar amount, no matter how busy it is. At least that is what's true from my experience.
This is why I like weekdays, so I don't have to work as hard physically approaching and dancing for more guys. I'd like to keep it at just a few customers rather than 25.

i always take what "top earners" claim they make with a grain of salt because A) they may be trying to psych out other girls by lying about their $$$ or B) they may be doing things for that money i'm not willing to do. either way, the only person i'm competing with is myself. screw what the other girls say they make. i've got my own goals for my own resons & that's good enough for me.

$450-500 is actually quite good for a Melbourne club. I have known girls who've consistently earned more, but they tend to be the exception rather than the rule. Most people don't earn stupid amounts in Melbourne. It's not really that kind of city.

i dont ask anyone what they make, i try to discretely glance at other's garters to see what they are making.
so it is not bad for melbourne?
im not sure as it's the first club i've danced at. I heard the earnings might be better at bar20 or goldfingers?

It sounds like you might be neglecting multiple dances. Once you've got them back there and they've done one dance, don't let them just leave! They need another one, at least.

i have never tried that i have just sat down, told them the dance is finished then said oh i can do another one if u like - i know lame!

I'd bet you'll see a big difference in multiple dances now! This little thing made a huge difference for me. How nice of your coworker... not many girls would do that

Have you tried working in a different area or club enviroment? Sometimes that helps to get out of a rut. I found that traveling to other clubs besides my home club kept me fresh and on the ball. It is so easy to get into a pattern when working the same club all the time.

i haven't. this is the only club i have ever danced at. im starting to think it might be a bad fit.
im sure certain dancers make more in certain clubs and the same dancer would not make as much in another club.
i think that's a great idea, i do need to try my luck somewhere else.

I think before you leave your club, try the advice you were given first. That's what I do when I dance for customers and they almost always get at least a second dance, sometimes a 3rd. I think by you sitting down and saying the dance is over and asking if they want another one is killing the mood and making it too much of a transaction instead of a fantasy. Make the customer feel that you WANT to dance for him because you love dancing for him, not because you want to dance for him just because you'll make more money. I think that in itself will make a huge difference in your money. When I'm dancing for someone, I focus on giving a great dance and pretend I enjoy dancing for them, even though my mind is miles away I still focus on giving a good dance and making them think that I want to dance for them and I don't want to stop.

okay thanks for the advise, it's a great help.
i am going to try out this new technique to try and get multiple dances, i mean as the saying a bird in the hand goes, it would save time and make me more money. i totally agree my approach would def be a mood killer.

I think the earnings are easier rather than better there. Most of the girls I know (who are any good) earn around what you do. The top hustlers earn more of course, but many girls also earn much less.
