    Default Online Classes?

Hello...Im not too sure where I would post this but I figured here's a good of a place as any. Does anyone know anything about Online Schools? I would like to obtain a degree in marketing and online would be the most feasible way to do it but Im not too sure on how prospective employers would look at an online degree. Are there any schools that are more respectable than others? Has anyone here ever taken online classes? Any one have any advice? Thanks

Let me encourage you to avoid this, unless you have no other way to educate yourself. The occasional online class as part of a larger education might be ok, but an online university...eh. You get much more from college by attending classes, interacting with students and professors, etc etc.

Also, as someone who hires people as part of my job...honestly, when I see degrees from Univ of Phoenix or the like...99% of the time, they hit the circular file.

^^^ agreed that degrees from 'online universities' are not well respected in the business community ... because employers have discovered instances of 'intellectual fraud' (i.e. somebody else took the online final exam !)

The other thing with them is, their admissions requirements are typically VERY low (have HS diploma/GED? Come on in!). They are not competitive as most "real" colleges are, and as Melonie said, cheating is easy and rampant.

That's in addition to the image that the quality of instruction is not high. Online schools are not research schools, 99% of the classes are taught by adjunct professors, very little interaction...not only is the quality of education you get much lower then "real" colleges, but again...because of all of this...just not well respected by employers.

If it's the ONLY way you have of educating yourself, I'd suggest St Leo University.

MANY land-based schools and universities offer online classes. Find a local school in your area that has a large variety of their classes online. You (in most cases) can take most/all of your classes online....it doesn't have to be the 'occasional' class as suggested by Mr Hyde. I would suggest that you look into that before anything else. It's generally cheaper to do it that way too.

    I found it:

I've been really interested in online classes as well. Living in NYC, there's no shortage of schools, even some of the CUNY (city universtiy of New York) schools are awesome, but I'm really looking for the convenience of schedule...
