    Default mother instinct? weird..

I sleep sooo deep lately now that Im back at the club and have a newborn. When i sleep I SLEEP!! Last night..well this morning actually...everybody was sleeping....our ladder picture frame holder...full of frames and things... collapsed in the living room thanks to the cats. everybody heard it but me. i kept right on sleeping. but when Azaia makes the tiniest little squeek im UP! and when Ahrie comes sneaking into the room,i hear her feet on the carpet before she even reaches the door.
I never hear my husbands friends playin poker at 2am,I dont hear the phone, the door bell....but i hear the babies smallest noises. I just think thats pretty amazing. Am i the only one?

nope I hear everything the crumb-snatchers do also. They're just old enough, that I don't have to get up. So, I just listen to them so I know what they're plotting on me for later in the day, lol.

Like, when Sissy asks me to take her to get some ice-cream, I know Jayden put her up to it that morning, so I ONLY take Sissy, lol!!!!

Ditto Xio... Kingston and I live with my mom and she keeps asking me if he's sleeping through the night already, but he doesn't cry at night because even when I'm alsleep I hear the quiet little noises he makes when he's waking up or about to start howling... I find myself just waking up and immediately going over to him or looking at him if he's in my bed that night, even if I'm in a deep sleep.

Has to be Mama Instinct 'cus I don't know what else would explain it. Although... we hear noises even when we're asleep and essentially unconscious, maybe our brains give the neural networks that register our childs, noises, needs, crying, etc priority? Maybe that's how we hear them even before we wake up and are conscious/aware that we're hearing them?

Yep. I think all Mommies have it programmed into their subconscious that they can block everything else out in sleep, but not the cries or sounds of their children. I'm the same way. A bomb could blow up right next to me, and I wouldn't even flinch.. But, when one of the kids makes a peep, I spring up.

    It's definitely a Mom thing.

Yep. And Rhia, you are so right... although I have difficulties sleeping in general, there are some rare times I sleep hard.. one of those moments happened when my daughter was 3.. I used to try and sleep when she took naps.. but my child was STUBBORN... I fell into a deep sleep and she got the wise idea to go and get a cookie out of the cookie jar, I heard her feet his the floor and I hollered at her, "Get back in bed!".. she has since told me that Grandpa was right- "My mom does have eyes in the back of her head.. she knows EVERYTHING"... LOL...

Nope. Definitely a mom thing. Wait until they go to school and you get a feeling in the pit of your stomach about something they have done etc... You just "know"... they didn't cook for 9 months inside us for nothing.
